Freaked out about a plane crash

Off the topic, but Herc, I gotta ask. Why the P-3 icon?

    Goooood video sites!

I've been trying to find that "Troops Airdrop at Night" clip on http://www.centcom.mil/Galleries/videos/enduring_freedom/OEF%20video.htm The overhead shots at the end showing the C-130s dropping the troops in Afghanistan were taken by my crew in a P-3 in November of 2001. One of the coolest...

Navy Pilots "Piece" Standard issue or Personal Gun

In regards to "Fly Navy ENS SNA" "Zab1000.....that's bull****. Didn't anyone say "Um, HELLO!?" I'd be pissed if I got partial mags in a high threat zone." We were lucky to get that many. Our wing had no plan in place for issuing weapons/ammo. Our armory could only support that. Another...

Navy Pilots "Piece" Standard issue or Personal Gun

Quick sea story. We were doing Afghanistan missions right after Sept 11. We got issued the standard Beretta 9, with only 2 mags and 10 rounds (5 in each). So the next deploment comes around and we're doing Enduring Freedom Phillipines and we get 3 mags with 15 in each. 45 bullets in a low...

    Zaps!

There's a Marine Hornet squadron in Japan (I dunno which one, their patch has a bat on it) who put zaps on every damn base in that country. It's an actual picture of one of their pilots. It says "I'm the Yeti, I smell bad" or something. I remember puking in the kadena o'club in a stall...

P-3C AT SPIRIT OF ST LOUIS AIRSHOW THIS WEEKEND

Hey all, there'll be a P-3 at the Spirit of St Louis Airshow this weekend. I'll be the Plane Commander, we'll have it open Sat/Sun/Mon for tours, questions, whatever. Come by and say hello, meet the crew.

    Tattoo

As far as getting tatts after being commissioned being "frowned upon", I haven't had any of that response. I've had 3 done since I made O-2, and no one in any of my squadrons has said anything negative, quite the opposite actually. None of them show in any uniform though.

    What to expect?

Guys going on to C-130 (USMC/USAF) fly "Tactical" Formation flights at low level. VNAV, very basic simulated airdrops, etc. One of those guys knows more I'm sure. I had a Marine buddy almost get downed once by some USAF dude who said his chart prep was unsat for one of those TAC flights...

    Air Medals

Some dumb pocket guide I bought at an exchange like 4 years ago, thats why I asked.

    Air Medals

Off the topic, yet off it, anyone know for sure if you wear devices on a full size Navy/MC Comm? I gotta wear full dress soon and I have a Comm with a "V". This little uniform guide thing I bought says you don't wear any devices, but everyone else says you do. I have no clue.

C-12 detatchment sites? FLEET, not VT

And after re-reading your post, I realized what you meant. No, my PPC bud is in Italy with whatever staff is out there. Sucks, he actually called my DSN from Bahrain about a month ago. That's how bored he is. By the way, great website. It's totally kept me occupied while bored off my ass on...

C-12 detatchment sites? FLEET, not VT

My boy is actually interviewing for that soon, so anyone 10-12 months out should be safe, I figure the decision will have to be made by then. Rumor has it that if you get picked for the interview, you should just admit you don't really want to do it. Who wants some guy working for him who...

    What to expect?

Anybody in VT-31 seen LT (actually I think LCDR now) Beau Whitten? (bald guy, never mad, often found at Farah's or in the back of Sharkey's) He was my on-wing, and my latest 2P also had him. Whatta guy. I'd love to track him down. I heard he's doing the reserve thing, but I'm not sure if...

    Left-handed?

As old as this topic is, I'm suprised no P-3 Bubbas have spoken up. The P-3 syllabus starts with pilots in the left seat, from advanced in the T-44 or C-12, through the FRS, and on into your first fleet tour. In fact, right seat landings don't really start until about halfway through the...

C-12 detatchment sites? FLEET, not VT

Trust me, as far as hard fills go, I think most people leaving around my time are clear. There seems to be enough people around either willing to take the hit for personal reasons or have managed to piss off the front office enough to cover those slots. Then again, one of my best friends was...

C-12 detatchment sites? FLEET, not VT

Yeah watch how fast I volunteer for a TSC hard fill. Are you watching? Look, look. Keep watching. Hold your breath while your at it. In the meantime I guess I'll just start making some phone calls. Thanks for the input.

C-12 detatchment sites? FLEET, not VT

Anybody got any info on all the possible C-12 det sites for a shore tour? I'm coming up on 11 months out for PRD and I wouldn't mind doing something a little off the wall (vice VTs or the FRS). I need ammo for negotiations with my XO. A former detailer was telling me about some bizarre areas...

    P-3 status???

Here's the scoop: There is none. I'm a Patrol Plane Commander in the fleet right now. We won't know anything until August, or so we're being told. The main issue at hand is airframe fatigue. We're still flying the same amount of hours and missions, our airframe limits have changed very...
