Aviation Uniforms and Customs for the new ENS

I remember the salt and peppers and the winter blues (Johnny Cash) while in NROTC 1981-1985. I want to say the winter blue stayed for awhile after that.

    Special Leave Accrual

This is great!!! I'm at 60+ days right now and have been taking every other Monday off so I don't lose any. Now, with retirement less than 24 months away, this is going to extend my terminal leave!

I wish manned helicopters could do this

What happens when a real helicopter tries to do that. Thank God real helicopters can't do that! Some new pilots make it feel that way already.

    COVID-19

I love it! They closed the one trail near me that I could have ridden to. So now I drive 35 minutes to get to a 9,615 acre trail network that has 6 cars in the one acre parking lot. And on the way to the trail, I count 25 people, many of them Karens, riding and walking side by side down the bike...

Yes & no. Yes, with the same power changes, trim is needed. The full throw of the throttle on the B of course equates to less power change than on the C, so in that sense, no, not as much trim is needed. Overall I would say the B doesn't feel as demanding with the trim.

Over 20 years married to an RN/BSN and 13 years as a medevac pilot myself say you are off target. If you had a brother in law MD, or especially a nurse spouse, you might have heard not just one or two stories, but dealt with them coming home an emotional wreck at the end of the day for weeks at...

    COVID-19

Ding ding ding!!! We have a winner. It's too bad some of the people running the hospitals don't realize that. Let's just say that if you arrive at the hospital for COVID-19 care, you just might have the labor and delivery nurse, who has almost zero experience with a ventilator, taking care of...

    COVID-19

I think this is what came across as giddy. I tend to agree. On a slightly different note, I am disheartened by the ease at which some on this forum dismiss the value of lives in favor of the economy. Who are we, when it is all said and done, is more important than what we own. Those who serve...

    Military Flight Checks

I have used American Flyers to RENEW my CFI several times. Unfortunately, after returning from deployment my certificates were lost (an unpleasant story) which made it difficult for me to send in my old certificate during the renewal process. A bunch of other things occurred and I lost track...

    Military Flight Checks

Just a summary of reinstating a CFI under 61.199. I let my CFI expire due to a deployment and losing track of my expiration year. Under 61.199, if you have completed a military instructor checkride within the past 6 months, you can get your CFI reinstated. I contacted several DPEs and the...

    COVID-19

SWO Couple Signs For Department Head Together

I got only one deployment and corresponding Sea Service Ribbon on my first sea duty due to most of our ships being delayed in commissioning (CGs, FFGs and DDGs). I earned another SSR on my second Navy deployment. So, as an Army Aviator I have two SSRs. I guess that's why it seemed odd a SWO...

    Defence money

OH YOU NAVY GUYS!!! It says..."FRONT TOWARD ENEMY" The font used on the lettering is licensed to the US Army. The Navy version uses open source fonts and therefore the weapons are less expensive. USN Junk in NATOPS

Not NATOPS related, but it kind of falls along the same lines of F#$% up stuff: I heard a rumor that this worked, so I tried it... I took my work desk key out to the hangar floor and tried it in the cockpit and cabin doors of our six Blackhawks. Anyone want to venture a guess on what the...

    USN Junk in NATOPS

Oh contraire. Our -10 changes constantly...just not in a meaningful manner. For example, our latest change has a new paragraph added for the BAM window. It's a smaller sliding window on the cabin door window. The whole paragraph tells you how to open and close the simple sliding window. REALLY...

al_Sadr played a role in the assassination of many of his religious (Muslim) rivals and has spent a great deal of time in Iran, reportedly trying to bolster his religious status and eventually become an Ayatollah. First, I love it! I have friends in the LA guard. They would love it too! Nice 10-22 for shootin' squirrels and such. I wanted to add: You don't have to settle with ONLY a civilian cert. As a leader I might even be inclined to add a few caveats, or restate some of the obvious things in training...
