You wouldn't happen to have any others that would be helpful would ya? I guess I'm proding you now.

    Transition from NFO to pilot

Dang, was that $3500 before or after the 60% off?

    Transition from NFO to pilot

Ok, how about this, my eyes arent that great and I'll probably need PRK in order to meet the vision req's but I dont have the money. So in comes one of the Lieutenants at the local NROTC unit and tells me that the Navy will do it for me for free and gets my hopes up (Once I'm commissioned and...

    Transition from NFO to pilot

On that note, how common/attainable are lateral transfers and whatnot? The reason is I was talking to one of the Lt's at the local ROTC unit and he was telling me about a couple of programs for example law where if you had more than 2 years in and less than 6 you could apply for the program go...

switch aircraft after a couple of years?

Ok, this is probably an really stupid question, but I was wonderin are LSO's all NA's or can FO's do it too? Figured there takin as many traps as the pilot is and know when they are low or fast or whatnot they just don't sit in front and correct the problem. Just curious anyhow.

    Eyes tests

I took the flight physical at NAS Jax and it pretty much consisted of the same as the previously mentioned commissioning physical only for the depth perception they make you look at a bunch of tiny circles and you have to pick out the one that is closer or farther than the rest (It may not sound...

    NFO benefits

Do NFO's get less flight pay and less bonuses that NA's? And how exactly does an ECMO get a DFC, just curious.

    The wait begins...

I'm still a little confused. I already had my flight physical which I passed with no problems except eyes, I'm right on the border, because I was going to do the Marines PLC program. So I'm pretty sure when I get to NAMI I should be fine unless my eyes slip. Now though I've decided to just go...

    The wait begins...

I was under the impression that if you were accepted for pilot then got NPQed for, for example, eye sight that you could just transfer over to NFO since you are already "in the aviation program". Is that correct or is the recruiter just blowin smoke up my six?

    ECMO's Vs. RIO's

I'm pretty sure that as the Navy phases out the F14's that they'll start phasing in the F18F's which have RIO's to take their place. Or so the Lt. in the NROTC unit told me.

    ECMO's Vs. RIO's

Well I'm exploring my options as a hopeful NFO (I don't really know all that much about them) and I was wondering what the main differences are, pro's and con's and what not between ECMO's and RIO's. Also how difficult is it to pick up the airframe you wan't (For example Prowlers as an ECMO or...

    HEY FRUMBY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I'm not too worried about jets, basically because as long as I'm in the air I'll be perfectly happy. So all I'm really worried about now is getting into NROTC and getting to flight school, everything after that is icing on the cake.

    HEY FRUMBY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also was wondering this, I'm applying to the 2-year ROTC program, with a 2.88 gpa and some other stuff that hopefully will weigh in my favor, which isn't great but isn't too bad, and I've been stressing out about whether or not I'll get in to the program. I know that each year is different...

    NFO Training

OK, so I know most of the people reading this are, or are interested in being, NA's or SNA's but my eyes are right on the cusp and are unfortunately worsening, so I have to make the realization that I will probably end up as a NFO (which is perfectly fine with me, just as long as I'm in the...

    HEY FRUMBY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had my eyes dialated by the optometrist and then saw the flight surgeon in the same day, so I don't know if seeing them on different days is normal, but I certainly saw them on the same day. As for the dialation, my ride home didn't bother to get a gate pass for NAS Jax, so I had to walk the...

    SWO Journal #1, Part 2a: April 27, 2001

Lt. Wilkins, just a quick question as I am also thinking of joining UFNROTC. Did you choose SWO or were you just assigned it. And What grades do you need to nine out of ten get you first choice in occupations I.E. naval aviator, naval flight officer, SWO, Spec Ops. ect.? Thanks in advance.

    2 Year NROTC

Well I've finally decided after 1 1/2 years of college to join the Navy! So here's my question should I or shouldn't I join the NROTC? What are the advantages/disadvantages associated with it? What grades do I need to be considered for the 2 year college program and will I be able to go on the...

    NFO Info

I was just wondering if I could get some info on NFO's. I went and took my flight physical at NAS Jax and I barely passed the vision minimums for pilot, I have 20/40 which is aparently good enough to be a pilot, but I was told my vision will slowly become worse. This is bad considering I still...

    ASTB Bio Section

Hi, I already took the ASTB and passed for NFO but missed NA by 1 point on the bio section of the test. Does anyone know what I could have answered wrong or what they are looking for on this portion of the test? I really want to be a pilot and I would hate not to be given the chance because of...
