Is there any possibility of getting promoted while in BDCP? If so how? Thanks, Rob

    Major Change while in BDCP

Does anyone have any experience with trying to change their major after they have been sworn in? I want to get an engineering degree, but it will take an extra year.

Go to Navy OCS with husband?

Should I move to Pensacola with my husband while he is in OCS? API? Will my daughter and I be more of a distraction than a help? I know it is going to be tough, and I want to do all that I can to help him. Please give me your advice. Any other suggestions as to how I can help him or myself...

    Officer Promotions in the Navy

Are junior officer promotions, specifically in aviation, more or less automatic assuming you perform adequately during flight training? In general, how long does it take to get promoted to O2, O3, etc. How contingent is promotion on performance, time in, and job? What is an officers average...

    Army or Navy Aviation Program?

Don't do it man. Take it from somebody who almost settled for WOFT. I thank God everyday that I did not go for Warrant in the Army. The Army needs pilots, while the Navy is extremely competitive for aviation spots. This should tell you something right away. Don't get me wrong. I'm not...

    Professionally Recommended But Not Selected?

Just wondering if anyone has been professionally recommended but then not officially selected. For what reasons were you turned down and did you resubmit your application? Thanks.

    BDCP Benefits

Could someone who is married and already in BDCP please clear a few things up for me? It is my understanding that once you swear in for BDCP you are active duty military getting paid as an E3. Is this correct? Do you receive ALL allowances for which you qualify (ie, housing, food)? Do...

    college transcripts?

To my knowledge every individual transcript is required. I was worried because I changed majors and universities three times, but I just got word that I was pro rec'd for SNA. So I wouldn't worry about it effecting your chances. Good luck man.

    Technical major?

Gomer, Even though you are not required to have a technical major, it will be more beneficial for you to have a strong technical background. This will help you perform better on the ATSB. The most important thing is to do something that you enjoy. That way if avaiation doesn't work out you...

Has anyone heard, been denied, or accepted lately?

Hey guys, I just found out this morning that I was professionally recommended for SNA after only three weeks of waiting. I will graduate next May and will hopefully head to OCS soon after that. I have finished my EPSQ, PRT, and physical exam. Hopefully that BDCP cash will start rolling in soon.

    FOREIGN LANGUAGES

I do not know anything about the tests themselves, but I do know that being fluent in a foreign language is a major plus in obtaining either an intelligence or crypto billet. Good luck!

What are my chances if I am 29 yrs old?

Contact your local Naval recruiting station. They will put you in contact with an officer recruiter (OSO). He should be able to set you up to take the test.

What are my chances if I am 29 yrs old?

Zarco, You can obtain age waivers based on prior service. What were you applying for? Any commission or just aviation. For some officer programs you can be as old as 34. As far as shortening the processing time, go ahead and apply now. That way after graduation you can go to OCS without an...

    A couple Q's

littledancerus-just curious as to who your recruiter is and where you are from?
  23. R

How much do past achaedemics count.

attilla- Right now the navy is extremely selective for flight slots, but contact a recruiter and tell him that you are interested. He will have you take the ATSB for either the marines or navy. If you perform solidly on the ATSB the lack of a technical degree will not matter that much...

    Degree Question

Mirage, I would recommend getting a technical degree such as Chemistry, Math, Physics, or some engineering disipline. This will prepare you for the ATSB and aviation in general much better than the non-technical route. But keep you gpa as high as possible and make sure it is something that you...

    BDCP and Army ROTC Experience

I would highly recommend the Shreveport station's officer recruiter, Chief Eric Johnson. He was extremely helpful and always willing to answer my questions. However, he is being shipped out next month, and he told me that he would not be replaced immediately. If you blow the ATSB out of the...

    BDCP and Army ROTC Experience

Jolly - I am assuming you mean Stephen F. Austin when you refer to your university. Am I correct? And if so are you going through the Shreveport recruiting station?
  28. R

    BDCP and Army ROTC Experience

Jolly - I would focus on your grades, physical fitness, and social involvement. The board wants to see a "well-rounded" individual who is dedicated to the Navy. While I do not believe that Army ROTC involvement will be detrimental to your chances, I would focus on the other aspects of your...

    Lie about my PRK?

Why lie about something for which a waiver may be easily obtained? Secondly, are you willing to sacrifice your integrity in order to obtain a commission. Theoretical or not. What are your motivations for joining the military anyway?

Dairy is right on about the electrical. It is under emphasized in the ARCO book. Also, the spacial is slightly different, and it can throw you off if you are not prepared.
