    NEWS UAV 'Combat' Flight Time?!

Air Force would give them out like candy probably anyway. DFC was on a point system like the air medal through the Korean War I believe. Given the amount of threat aircrew endured during that time especially during WWII I can definitely see that as justified.

    NEWS UAV 'Combat' Flight Time?!

I could see UAS guys maybe receiving air medals / dfc if they really do something big but neither of those with combat Vs. have to actually be exposed to a threat for those. And to differentiate aviators air medals earned by points from the UAS allow aviators to earn combat action ribbons if...

Nice house. Best of luck. Still waiting on orders. Monitor is probably saving that sweet unaccompanied tour to Korea for me.

    Advice - Routes to OCS

I wouldn't go in as a law contract if air is what you want. I didn't want to wait to go to OCC and went as a ground contract being told the same thing by my recruiter that I could just get it at TBS. It worked out in my case as there were 4 air contracts available for 7 of us competing. Top of...

    ITX/Camp Wilson

Flew with Satterfield quite a few times at HT18. Did his LFF with him. One of the best students I have had. His professionalism and preparation for flights was above reproach. On his LFF a flight in which it would be virtually impossible to not pass he showed up as prepared to fly that flight as...

Monster Marine OCS thread: stupid questions answered here!

Not a reply to your question, but noticed you went to SUU. I did as well graduating in 2000. Went through the Salt Lake City OSO right after since Las Vegas didn't have one. Thought it was cool to see someone from SUU. Most people have never even heard of the place. Best of luck to you.

    Intel work as a Pilot

I was kind of saying it tongue and cheek. Was just messing with you. We do spend a lot of time turning JP8 into noise looking for things on the sensor though. Did a police ride along in their helo....and I was pretty convinced I could roll right into that job. They essentially do what we...

    Intel work as a Pilot

I'm not sure what it was I was doing about 90% of the time over in Afghanistan and Iraq then. We do a great amount of ISR when we aren't killing shit.

FAC Tour: The good and the bad

Some of us use to call it "Bangin in Sangin" whenever we got a JTAR up there (daily). "What are you guys doing today? Oh got one down in Marjah then we are bangin in Sangin." And yes I do remember working for Driftwood 20.

    Marine OCS or PLC?

Agree on your opening statement. The Physical fitness part is important as far as preparing for the physical rigors of OCS......but an applicant with a 300 PFT getting rejected I am thinking there has to be more to the story (Like an Alcohol Related Incident, some past misconduct). I don't care...

    Marine OCS or PLC?

Don't think its arrogant at all. You need to go after what you want to do. It is up to the OSO to tell you how to go about doing that....and you do the work to get there. There are alot of things you need to do to ultimately succeed at your goal and the earlier you start the better. Its all...

    Marine OCS or PLC?

Id say do it in 10 weeks whether it be PLC combined if they still do that or OCC after graduating. I can't imagine going to that place twice. Seabag drag once was enough for me. I was an OCC guy in summer of 2001. Best part of that was I went straight from the PT academy known as OCS and...

For those at Whiting Field......What cell phone provider do you use?

    - I am about to execute PCS orders from Camp Pendleton, CA and head up to TW-5 in Milton. - When I was on house hunting PTAD I noticed I got zero reception on my cell phone while up at NAS Whiting. Best way to PCS back to flight school for instructor duty???

Got orders to MATSG-21 that I am about to execute in a couple of weeks. Check in NLT 19 July. I already know from talking to the MATSG XO that I am headed up to TW-5 in Whiting. Won't know if I go VT's or HT's until I check in there. Flight school was the most appealing option for me based on...
