There was an article regarding this in an issue of Navy Times not too long ago... can't remember the details. From what I read, it seems like a good idea in theory, and if it were feasible, could be a huge morale booster. However, while novel, I don't think its the best idea.

The creamery was good... loved it. The Red Parrot (across from Ben & Jerry's) is a must visit as well. There's also a bunch of good places in Providence as well... a bit of a hike (1 hr + on the bus), but worth the trip. Boston's close too.

Concur w/ Steve... There's plenty to do in Newport... especially if you like sailing, drinking or both. For those of you with wives/girlfriends, there's a bunch of mansions you can tour. Also, you MUST eat at Mama Leone's (out the front gate) and the Greek deli up the hill from the post office.

Thats a considerable drop... last time I looked at the statistics, 42% got jets. Srtitan, looks like your chances of getting jets are steadily decreasing. You'll probably get UAVs. I hear in 2010, UAV slots will be like jets are now... everyone wants one.

All I got upon graduating NAPS was a pat on the back, a certificate and a "Have fun". No letter, and my orders said nothing of what company I'd be in... ended up in the B-3... the 3rd Reich.

@ Gator... I'm not sure it it works the same way for NROTC stashes as USNA stashes, but here goes: Up through '05s graduation, if you were a stash Ens/2Lt, you got full BAH for Annapolis (something like 12 or 13 hundred a month). The class of '06 started recieving what I think was called BAH...

You'll be able to fly providing you meet the requirements for the aviation waiver following the surgery. There are plenty of winged aviators and students that have had corrective eye surgery, myself included.

Wouldn't you have to worry about possible trans-sonic airflow over the forward moving blades of the main rotor? Or is 200 Kts slow enough to where it wouldn't be an issue?
