Check in #2. I was sworn in on June 26th and signed all the enlistment papers. I took my oath of enlistment and I am still scheduled to go to the September 17th OCS class. Anybody that hears that they are in the same class please let me know.

I was selected from the May SWO board, background check complete and just waiting on a FINSEL. I'm crossing my fingers and really really hoping to join you in this class! Will let you know!

Pro Rec- Y for SNA from the 11 July 2017 Aviation board and am waiting for that final select letter.

What are y'all doing in the mean time to make sure that you are physically and mentally ready for OCS in case you get a date within the coming month or so?

I've been working out since April doing running, push ups, pull ups, core, etc in anticipation of getting Pro Rec Y. In the meantime I've been doing volunteer work as a mountain guide in Colorado and probably going to volunteer with a wolf sanctuary while I wait to hear about final selection. I'll print out the the general orders and basic knowledge packet here and start going over it for a little while each day.

Aside from knowing rank structure for both enlisted and officers, the general orders, and some key people and dates, and getting physically in shape there's not much else you can do to prepare. Getting adjusted to the organized chaos that is probably OCS (only based off what I experienced in USMC boot camp) will be the most difficult part and that becomes normalized after a few weeks of training.

First, damn that wolf sanctuary/mountain guide gig combo sounds cool.

I'd say about the same though, on the preparation end. I've worked out (crossfit, swimming, ran a marathon, etc) regularly for the past several years, but I've been focusing extra attention for a month or so on getting reps out on the three movements we're going to be tested on: pushups, situps, and the 1.5 miler. Run 400 and 800m sprints to get your run time down faster. And memorize as much of Appendix B beforehand.

The way I view it, every edge I can get before I'm doing this in a much more chaotic setting is for the best.
