Using a catch-all label like PC to encompass everything you don't happen to agree with is just intellectual laziness and absolves that person from the burden of actually thinking in critical, nuanced ways. So, call it what you will.
Yeah Brett, we understand. Ever since the Navy sent you to school for your degree, you're smarter than the rest of us. Here's a critically nuanced yet intellectually lazy thought - go fuck your elitist self.

I find it funny they are making such a big deal about it.

Everybody in Germany at least knows where the Red Light district closest to their post is. Probably half my NCO's and a good sized chunk of Officers in my battalion have been at least once, or gone with somebody to at least "shop."

UCMJ or not, nobody over here cares. Long as its off hours and out of uniform and you show up to work when your supposed too.

I find it ironic that it's the liberal left that is blowing this thing so much out of proportion. So much for "liberalism" I suppose.

Haha this thread is funny. So make sure you pay them or just go to the club and pick up local talent that only requires them to buy them a drink.

Just like almost everyone else I knew, I "short timed" my way across Japan, Korea and PI when I was in. 20 bucks on payday night was just too much of a good deal to turn down. Night before payday a pretty good piece of ass was 5-10 bucks if you knew where to look.

I mention this because I'm not at all taking the high ground. I have to wonder though, who in the hell thought it was a good idea to invite a herd of hookers to the hotel when you were pulling this kind of duty? It would have made one hell of a sea story if they had pulled it off but they didn't. This may fall under you pays your money and you takes your chances?

I feel bad for the service guys that got caught up in this but it will be interesting to see what really happened.

This isn't (or shouldn't be) a big deal because of any morality issue. It's not about being PC (well, maybe a little bit, but that's just window dressing). As far as the Secret Service guys go, they violated written policy. The policy wasn't written to protect Agent Jimmy from the moral hazards of various red light districts; it was written to protect national security. Agent Jimmy and his fellow agents are in extremely sensitive positions. Many of them are married. Most of them would be mortified if their escapades with ladies of the night became public knowledge. That makes them ripe for blackmail or extortion the second that they engage in any questionable activity, no matter where, no matter when, no matter with who, whether legal or not. That's why the policy was written. That's why what these guys did is such a problem.

High ranking military officer at the press conference: "I am totally appalled that our servicemen in Columbia dared to do the same thing I did as a young officer on deployment. This kind of behavior was acceptable when I did it but is totally unacceptable for them."

On a serious note, there are now reports that the Secret Service agents might have been using cocaine. That puts this incident in a whole different ballpark.

Whether it's banging hookers or snorting coke, the end result is the same: they put themselves in an extremely compromising position.

Could a fellow mod split this thread? I would but I have a 1994 speed internet connection at the moment.
