the navy and japan should buy some too...but 200 is a good number, as --currently--the USMC has about 150 E's and the USN has 28. ..these are spendy airframes and with a low number buy.....no way will they sell 500.

Who determines whether someone is flying as pilot or Co Pilot?

I never had it happen, but heard about it. probably needs to be an unrestricted line admiral. staff guys are just support characters.
  33. rotorhead1871

Who determines whether someone is flying as pilot or Co Pilot?

its on the flight schedule....who signs for the aircraft. unless you have a code on board, as they can take command of the flight. but the PIC is the AC and signs for the aircraft.

New Bell 525 reporting 200 knots?

wow that is a crazy scenario to try to put back together, messing around Vne ..and losing Nr....which is happening at or around max power...sounds like power train fail....(guessing) but why would that make the rotor plane go nuts???
  35. rotorhead1871

New Bell 525 reporting 200 knots?

    Blues to Get Supers?

sims are so good now that in the airlines when a pilot changes types, its all sims and usually their first flight in the new aircraft is a revenue flight!!...money is the driver
  39. rotorhead1871

    Blues to Get Supers?

they would probably handle the RAG operations like they did for the A7, it did not have any 2 seaters. they uses sims plus TA4 flights. Blues in F35's would be cool and noisy!

NEWS Nice article on surplus mil helos making way to commercial operators

airlines and even erikson have good cash flow, the airlines cant defer maint. as they fly people, but commercial operators MUST make money and have a good cash flow, or they can and do defer maintenance, which they do more than they should do , in my opinion. deferring maintenance is NOT a good...

NEWS Nice article on surplus mil helos making way to commercial operators

if they are not making money they will defer maintenance. and defer...and defer....NOT GOOD.

    Blues to Get Supers?

even the nasty F8's would be fun to watch. but the best BLUES airframe to watch was the F4!...I have seen the Blues all the way back to the Grumman Tiger.

Retreating Blade Stall before VNE - loss of control

well said!!...it would be very un-nerving!. the more blades you have the less violent the entry and departure would be...I am guessing! but with only 2 blades I'd imagine its pretty sudden in onset. but you are here to talk about it , so good recovery.
  46. rotorhead1871

NEWS Nice article on surplus mil helos making way to commercial operators

I doubt seriously if any commercial operator will spend the maint time or $$ to take care of the airframe correctly, this could be a bummer for all concerned.

Retreating Blade Stall before VNE - loss of control
