VRS is literally a downward decent into your own rotor wash. I'm surprised this has two pages. You dont have forward airflow over the rotors you are basically increasing the "wingtip" vortices and at your Pa power.

Yep thats a solid foundation on which to judge if someone should be an officer or not. I actually put more faith into someone (i.e. DI, Chief that actually deals with the applicant vs someone who puts a stamp on their package) to determined if they have the ability to become an officer.

Through my flight school experience I actually only saw USNA and ROTC people attrite. A few OCS people would get a IPC or FPC but pass and be placed back into the syllabus.

IPs in the HTs have actually been telling students more often now how the trim in the 60 works. Because with the 57 every input requires to be trimmed and some students struggle with it, IPs always comeback with "you'll never fly the 60 this way, you fly against it so you don't kill yourself but...

We spend so much time learning to be "intelligent" in college its tough to revert to spoon feeding the knowledge. But thats what the Navy expects.

Well according to the FAR/AIM you only have to have them off/airplane mode during IFR flights if it disrupts the comm/nav equipment...helos win again (to drunk to look at the verbatim)

If you got a PRO-Y just enjoy your down time study what you need to study and stay in shape. Also enjoy your bed, once your at OCS all it is standing all day and trying to sleep on uncomfortable beds not knowing what time it is and god forbid you have a roommate that snores and keeps you up.

RLP was the best part of OCS looking back...if you don't shart a little bit you didnt do it right.

Yeah send someone home for something that can be easily fixed....rather have someone that can get in shape than someone in shape that doesn't have the motivation to complete flight school.

False. I didnt have jet grades out of primary but didnt want maritime so I put Helos, Jets (strike) and E2/C2. Got helos.

What? I watched a buddy lose aviation because he was turning 27 3 days after commission. If you werent there to see it it prob didnt happen. Doesnt sound like the Navy.

But the ASTB has ultimatly almost no bearing. Its used for a PRO REC and that's it not an indicator for how well you will do.
