Is anyone else have one more chance at the OAR?

My recruiter said that I could do a dual enrollment which I can get set up on the enlisted side incase I don't get selected for that board. He also suggested that I should enlist, save my OAR chance, and submit my package within two years of active duty. I am looking into IT or CT for enlisted side and SWO or IWC for officer.

The general advice you get from the knowledgable people on this forum is never enlist as a means to commission "down the line". It is very rarely that simple.

On on the officer side, your scores right now are around the minimum for SWO and below IWC. You would need to raise that OAR score by at least ten points for IWC (ideally more like 15-20 to be competitive).

That said, if you're OK with the idea that you will remain enlisted, that's a different story entirely.

Brace yourself for it taking longer than 2 years. I enlisted in 2010 with the goal to go to OCS. I finally got a PROREC-Y this year for IP. It can be a long wait if you decide to go the enlisted route. If you can I would look into a graduate degree along with retaking the OAR.

Don't see this as me talking you out of enlisting, but just sharing some personal experience with the idea of going enlisted to officer while active duty.

don't do this, if you want to be an officer retake and try again, for IWC your GPA is about .5 below the average selection GPA so SWO is your best bet.

I do plan on going SWO and then switch into IWC after receiving SWO pin.

I have plenty of time to study from now until January. Hopefully a better OAR score will help me get selected for the next board.

My CO hasn't told me anything. I saw the list on the MPTE site. They posted it on Friday. My HOD also went on the site and pulled the list too. I'm expecting my CO to say something Monday or Tuesday, but here in the next few hours, my HOD is taking to me brunch in the wardroom so if the CO or XO didn't know, they will now! LOL

Got Pro Rec Y from the the list, but yeah I haven't heard from my recruiter since July 29th. My old recruiter (I've known since 2018) retired and this new one only contacted me via text to tell me he was my new recruiter lol.. But yeah I haven't even heard my new recruiter's voice before, like ever.. So, still waiting for the phone call!

I would be a 3rd generation Navy legacy. I wrote this in my motivational statement, and of how growing up as a Navy brat inspired me to become a Naval officer.

Graduated with the second highest GPA (class rank #2) in my major for my graduating class for undergrad.

The CIA (can't be placed in the same continent) can hire former Peace Corps Volunteer but have a 10 year wait period, and FBI can hire former Peace Corps Volunteers only after the 5 year waiting period. But, military intelligence community I have heard is a different situation I have heard. I also have seen someone here another Returned Peace Corps Volunteer (RPCV) like me in 2018 get a Pro Rec Y and went to OCS as an intelligence officer, but I think they were about 10+ years out of Peace Corps. But, no I don't think it is disqualifying for me to serve as a Surface Warfare Officer.

@exNavyOffRec any insights on this topic? I remember you went over this topic maybe like 5 years ago I believe!

I retired from the Navy reserve in 2000 after 20 years of service. I also served as a Peace Corps campus recruiter from 2015-2017, after having retired as a DOD civilian PSYOP ("intelligence") analyst in 2007. Enough time had passed (official ruling) between my civilian PSYOP career and Peace Corps recruiting duty to allow me to accept that position. The only thing set in stone (as I understand it) is if you have ever worked for the CIA you can never be a PCV.

The rules have changed over time, I remember back in the 90's it was more restrictive, recently they have lessened the restrictions, I had a person that volunteered with the peace corps join but I do not remember how long after that stint they joined, it must have not been an issue.

The biggest thing the OAR will do for you is allow you to go to a board sooner.

That’s awesome “Sir” ha my ABF1 just told me she saw my name on the list from mpte. I’m still in disbelief long time coming.

Did anyone else get an exact OCS class date from a recruiter but it just says FY21 on the PDF? I would assume that date was just assigned after the official document was signed off on and released.

Dows anyone have a copy of the OCS packing list from their website? The website appears to be down. I called the OCS QD and they said it isn’t likely to be fixed soon... maybe someone has it downloaded already? It’s the required/recommended items list. I appreciate it!
