Prostate issue pre-OCS?

So my doctor wants me to come in due to some issues he says may be related to acute prostatitis (not chronic as the symptoms are intermittent). Should I go or wait until OCS and see the doc there if it doesn’t go away?

I am leaving for OCS sooner rather than later and don’t want something like acute prostatitis to stop me when I just need some antibiotics. I especially don’t want this to lose me my SNFO slot.

Recruiting office basically said “I don’t know, but let us know what you decide to do.” Any advice?

I would google "NAMI waiver guide", read through it thoroughly, and see if that is something that is covered. It will tell you the likelihood or lack thereof that it would impact you as a new accession.

Navy Medical Manual for new accessions would be looked at first.

So I read the prostatitis section and of course it says “disqualifying” like almost everything else it covers. The waiver section doesn’t say much, but NAMI waiver guide looks promising? Seems as though a waiver would be approved but that may be for those already in flight training or in the fleet.

I am honestly lost, but may just wait until OCS quarantine or training to see if it goes away before then.

I recommend dealing with this issue now, before leaving for OCS. Acute bacterial prostatitis is no joke, and can occasionally go very bad rather quickly. If it is bacterial prostatitis, a run of antibiotics is the answer. If it isn't, best to sort it out now. MANMED Ch. 15 doesn't specify a time frame, but acute prostatitis is disqualifying for accession. DODI 6130.03 specifies acute prostatitis within 2 years is disqualifying for accession.

I guess I would have to hope for a waiver of some kind. Thanks!
