Also to note ALPA operates under RLA which is entirely different set of rules then most other Unions. HAL don’t feed the troll. He has absolutely no clue what he is talking about. And don’t get me wrong ALPA isn’t perfect. And personally, I wish us trash haulers would combine together and form a Cargo Only Union.

This article confirms what everyone, including a Democratic Senator, was already trying to tell all of us crazy Red Hats: it’s all President Trump’s fault.

Oh wait...

???

Are U.S. elected officials (on either side) saying that POTUS should have restricted travel from China a lot sooner, and a lot more forcefully, than he did?

Why can’t it be both?
Not saying it’s “Trump’s fault” because that’s silly. But he didn’t take it seriously in the beginning. China fucked up, possibly maliciously too...doesn’t mean Trump handled it correctly.

If the linemen don’t put rain X on the windows, it doesn’t alleviate you of the responsibility to turn on the windshield wipers when it rains.
You can’t blame them when you can’t see.

Did you know that of the roughly 10,000 New York Coronavirus deaths, almost 3,800 of them didn’t even test positive for Coronavirus, they were just “presumed” to have died from that? So not only are autopsies not being done to verify that the cause of death was actually Coronavirus (or related), now people that have never tested positive for the virus are being categorized as Coronavirus deaths. I’m not saying this virus isn’t highly contagious or even extremely deadly to certain demographics, but it is not what it’s being made out to be.

I think that the eventual historical accounting of this will be that there are plenty of mistakes to go around for everyone but that there were lots of unknowns for a new virus that drove people and countries and organizations to certain behaviors. Seems that most countries set up their pandemic plans for something like SARS or Ebola where carriers have fevers, etc but not for a virus that is contagious when people aren't presenting symptoms. Even if we had started scanning temps of everyone who came in to the US it wouldn't have mattered because of asymptotic carriers. Same for early attempts to contact trace. Of course our understanding of the virus and reaction to it wasn't helped by China's initial response or the WHO's initial tepid response and no call of pandemic until March. Nor was it helped by our own Country's leaders (on both sides and at many levels) not taking it seriously. Early post mortems have shown that there were plenty of accurate white papers from various agencies on the threat of a coronavirus pandemic back at least a decade. Both parties have been in power in that timeframe and have both de-funded public health efforts.

Well, they were presumed to have been caused by COVID because there's a 60% increase in deaths over the historic average. So what has changed? Oh, yeah, that pandemic thing.

It can be both. But if you watched that clip, you saw a SITTING United States Senator saying China did NOTHING wrong and blaming President Trump. He is literally a mouthpiece for the Chinese Communist Party. That should really concern ALL of us. And I’m sure there’s lot of folks here who agree with him. They’ve made it abundantly clear.

You also ought to watch the newsclip video our President played at the briefing the other day. No one was really taking it seriously in February, certainly not everyone who’s criticizing him now, talking heads, reporters, politicians. Nancy Pelosi has already removed the video of herself in February encouraging people to visit Chinatown because she knows it didn’t age well.

Riddle me this: if we’ve had such a horrible national response and President Trump has done such an awful job, why are our deaths per capita so low compared to Western Europe? And no, please don’t answer by responding about HK, Singapore, and SK. Our country’s culture and willingness to wear masks and the like are completely different.

Also, our national response HAS flattened the curve. We’ve done such a good job that at least 117 hospitals across America are laying off staff and workers because they’re so empty. Because they were keeping beds open for the surge that hasn’t come and honestly probably won’t. No one in NYC didn’t get a ventilator that needed one.

It’s time to smartly get back to work.

Meanwhile there have been almost zero deaths caused by stroke, heart attacks, heart failure, influenza, and pneumonia. Did people all of a sudden stop dying from those things?
