SWO BOARD 04 NOV 2019

My waiver took 7 1/2 weeks to come back. I am 34 turning 35 next month. Remember it's all a case-by-case basis, so your experience could be different from mine. I was waiting on the waiver during the August board, heard back a week after it convened.

The good news is that they are apparently taking a ton of age waivers right now for SWO. I have a prior-service friend who just completed OCS. He said that there were several folks in their early to late 30s in SWO slots. So even if you have to wait, given the current trends, you are likely to get good news on a waiver.

Good luck to y'all. Stay motivated.
Thanks BubbleRed

So basically what I am learning today is that even if we are close to the 35y/o mark, I am one year away, we should still continue to apply EVEN IF we will pass 35 at the time of commissioning?

Forgot to ask...Are you prior enlisted and applying for SWO, or a different program? Just curious, and hope the info helps others here. Thanks again.

It's good to see that there are others in this age group. I am just hoping it is not too late for them to process waivers for age for packages that were sent in last week. I guess we will see!
From my understanding your package will be sent to the board regardless. I am in the same exact shoe as you. Actually my waiver has not even sent to cnrc yet. We can only do our best right

PA 100 has instructions and procedures for an age waiver. See here: https://www.public.navy.mil/bupers-...rs/Documents/PA-100_SWO_Training_Jun-2019.pdf

As per the instruction, if you are applying for a waiver for being 35 and older, the waiver does not just go to CNRC but to Director, Military Community Management (BUPERS-3).

I am prior-enlisted and I am only applying for SWO this round. Like Infinitedouble says, just do your best. Waiting is just part of the process (and certain parts of the military experience as a whole ). Look at it as being in the process of earning a commission and not that you are waiting for that process to start. Then run, and run again, and do push-ups. Again, good luck.

Great post! From my understanding based on the instructions. I think the waivers all go to CNRC but for those beyond 35 CNRC will forward to Bupers-3. Whichever way it goes, we all have a good chance of getting selected. New PA supports older candidates and the selection rate right now is high. We will meet out there in the fleet.

One thing to remember is that with increased age caps now come more applicants, so don't be surprised if that selection rate drops, now really the ones who should most concerned are those with low GPA's since that gets a hard look.

Has anyone gotten confirmation that their package was received and that they will be on the board? Submitted mine on Monday and am still waiting to see.

I was last told yesterday that my package was received, fully qualified both medically and physically, but until my waiver was approved I would not be on this board if it didn't happen by 4NOV. That is coming directly from a phone call with the one and only Ted Williams himself. He said the waivers are very backed up so no promises. It will be interesting to see. He did say, however, that since the SWO boards are done in-house, i.e. in Millington, that once waivers are approved they can be submitted right away in time for the board if it is before the convene date. I am personally not happy with my OAR score in the 40s, but my write-ups are great, high-ranking and my GPA is good. The only reason I say this is because like Rubio told me a ways back, it is about the whole package. In my case, I am hoping the confidence of the SWOs who did my appraisals will help my case, along with the CO endorsement, but damn it is just too hard to say. We all can only be hopeful that it works out. Once it leaves our hands, it is just that - out of our hands. If big Navy needs us, they'll let us know when it is time. Good luck to all those applying and to those who helped with some answers about their waiver situations.

~Namaste.

I didn't make the August board bc I needed a waiver. What was relayed to me is that you must meet the requirements or have an approved waiver before the convene date. So y'all should be fine. My age waiver took a week.

I think you'll be fine. Leave nothing to chance. Check on it with Mr. Williams or Mr. Celestin.
