Any Bonus for Navy Pilot?

Title says it all. My recruiter said there are no bonuses available. I have my bachelors degree in Kinesiology with no prior flight experience. I read online enlistment bonus with bachelors is 8,000. So are there any bonuses available or is that basically absorbed by the huge cost it takes to train new pilots?

I'd at least ask what can be done about trying to enlist with a Bachelor's - I suspect you can at least be automatically promoted to E-3 or something like that.

There's loan repayment, bonuses, and of course E-3 if the OP enlisted. That's probably where he got confused as to the bonus...

I enlisted with a B.S. and was automatically promoted to E-3 at boot camp. Trying to go pilot now.

No bonus for pilot, besides, who needs the money if you want this as your passion? ;)
So true, thought I would go into technical field like IT or Information Professional as an Officer, but when I joined as an aviation electrician, I feel in love with the aviation community. Not to mention all the perks you get going officer and the base pay with BAH is more than enough.

Compared to a college grad that enlists for the $8K bonus, once commissioned you'll probably make that up within a year just in basic pay alone, and compared with someone who's "in demand" such as a hospital corpsman, you'll probably make up their $25K bonus within about 3 years. The remaining 4 to 6 years of your minimum service requirement, your basic pay will range between 150-200% of what they make, so in the long run your service commitment, while longer, will be much more profitable even without any incentive bonuses. If you have a bachelors degree, an interest in serving, flying and building wealth, then I would suggest commissioning.

Currently in DEP. I also have a BA in Psych, GPA is 2.3. I eventually want to commission. Enlisting now because I want to serve and GPA is too low for OCS. Would being enlisted give me a better chance at being accepted to go to OCS? If not, what would be the best step for my situation?

Paging @RecruitingGuru

I'd have to think the answer is: "no do not enlist." But that GPA isn't doing him any favors either... Not sure what the right answer is... get a Master's with solid GPA? Shrugs

Enlisting does not give you a better chance at OCS, it is all about best qualified, your GPA is very low and even if you aced a Master's program your GPA would still be low.

Probably your best option would be to excel in your rate and try for LDO as they look at what you have done in your job more than anything.
