So this idea has been kicking in my head for awhile now, and I am really thinking about it, I am currently an Anthropology major, and my GPA is currently at a 2.73 and plan to get it higher.
However, after reading Endurance by Scott Kelly and First Man, I really am thinking about becoming a test pilot, problem is, I am currently 22 and I feel like I will be extending or even over extending myself, I like the idea of becoming a test pilot and try out new electronic systems.
If this has been posted before I'm sorry, but I really don't know what to do.

What is your question?

Sorry I thought I wrote it, but anyway I was wondering if it's worth the risk to change my major just to have that option of TPS on the table.

You can't pass the ASTB and you have a crappy GPA. Why should you be an officer again?

Aviation is all about little steps that lead to a big goal. While some of the comments seem harsh, they have a point. I want to be a jet pilot, but if I don't select jets, I will still be a Naval Aviator. If I couldn't be a pilot, I could still be in the aviation community by being a NFO. If not the aviation community, I could still be a Naval Officer...Point being, your gpa sucks in what most people consider an easy degree, if you choose a more difficult degree and can't improve, you will lose your chance of even passsing the first step. If you just screwed around early on in college to bring your gpa down, thats one thing, but you will be judged by your final gpa. If you can have a STEM degree with a good GPA do it, otherwise get a degree with a good gpa.

Get off the forums and hit the books! You have 100% control of your GPA. (Well close to 100%, but you get my point). And if studying ain’t your problem then it’s aptitude. And if it’s that, then there is no way you will handle the firehose that is Flight School... Maybe it’s time to self reflect on this pipe dream!

I know I can achieve this and I will take this advice and apply it, thank you Frank.

@RecruitingGuru et al are harsh, but they’re not wrong. You post a lot of questions and comments on here about your lofty dreams and goals, but in the meantime you’re daydreaming about Step 147 while stepping on your dick on Step 1. With that GPA and your apparent ASTB woes, you’re not even going to get a shot at OCS, much less TPS or whatever else you’re fantasizing about this week.

Having long-range goals is fine, but you need to sort out your priorities ASAP if you want to have a snowball’s chance of achieving any of them. Get your head out of the clouds and into the books.
