February 10th 2019 OCS Class Date

what day is everyone getting there? i am trying to get there Wednesday to settle in and get used to the time difference. I have watched several videos on the OCS process, and also listened to different peoples perspectives of the training. It seems like the hardest part is the first 3 weeks. After RLP, things seem to get better, being that we will transition into the officer candidate phase, and in the classroom majority of the day, and also in the khaki uniform. I am prior Air Force and i understand what to expect from a training environment, but was wondering what you guys perspectives were of the training. If there are any other prior enlisted (which i know there are), we know how to pass a PT test, and how to train for one, which is the first evolution of OCS. Everyone says come in shape, which you should definitely do, but just remember you are not training for three months, you are training to get in good shape and also to pass the initial PT test with at least a "Good Low" for whatever your age group is. We will all get in better shape during the OCS process from the beatings that we will take, and also the daily morning PT sessions. Any other prior enlisted members have any thoughts about this?

Don’t you want some element of surprise?? Kidding. Always good to game plan. Only thing I’m worried about are the Marine DIs!

Can’t blame you for showing up so early, coming from Alaska. The first few weeks will be hard enough without the time zone adjustment.

Is it true that groups are assigned different times to show up Sunday morning or are we all expected to be there before 0900?

I have heard that prior enlisted show up at 11, but it should say on our orders. i need to look at them again lol.

Sorry, between 0700 and 0800, not before 0900. Just looked at the “preparations and expectations” letter from the OCS Director. But again, I remember hearing that different times are assigned in everyone’s orders so there isn’t a huge delay in the morning. I could be wrong.

This is the date my OR is seeing in the system, but we have to wait on my security clearance before he can verify.
Something about my fingerprints aren't matching up with the barcodes on my MEPS documents...
He's also waiting to see if it can get pushed back. Looks unlikely.

I have a very similar story. I'm waiting for my security and also requested to be pushed to the next class because of the short notice. Regardless, I'm excited for whichever date.

It's pretty exciting. I got selected for 1830 too. I asked my OR if that's the reason it's taking longer for the security clearance, but he said it's the same for everyone going to OCS.
I'm squaring everything away ASAP, just in case. Wish I could get the OCS prep book before my swear-in since I need to shop for the required items, but there are plenty of resources online. (I didn't see socks on the OCS website, for example, but I'm seeing them detailed elsewhere.)

Good luck.

I'm pretty much going off of youtube videos for needed supplies and I'm about to start reading the updated survival guide. You can find it posted in the forum if you do a search for "OCS Survival Guide." It is written by a recent graduate. I'm currently making appendix B note cards.

You don't need socks but every breathing candidate has mentioned that buying nicely cushioned socks will make the break in period for your boots a great deal less painful. You don't need pricey socks. Just something better than basic. (think goldtoe)

Ahhh, you’re the guy who has been waiting more than two years. Good to see you have an opportunity, some answers, and a path forward!

Maybe we’ll see you in a week ??

I appreciate the support. The only down side of waiting is that I got in great shape to start a career but after waiting so long I developed a construction workers body. Aka, I'm right at the tape limit and the wrong muscles are developed.

I've been doing push-ups and sit-ups like crazy to get back into PRT shape. I want to walk in with at least a good low.

Thanks, man. Thought so too.

If you don't make weight, then they break out the tape measure.

I'll be getting taped for sure. I'm good at fitness but I didn't think I'd be leaving in a week and I fell off a bit. I can only blame myself. I'll be as ready as possible. If I get thrown to H, and I really hope that doesn't end up being the case, I'll be within regulations very quickly.
