Which Job should I be pushing for as an Officer in the Navy Reserve? I have the following:

-BA from University of Southern Mississippi in Political Science/Legal Studies (Double Major)
-JD (Law Degree) from Mississippi College School of Law
-President of Oil & Gas Law Society
-Member of Civil Law Society (Louisiana Law), Federal Law Society, Environmental Law Society, etc.
-Member of the Maritime Law Association of the United States
-4 semesters of Spanish
-Currently taking Rosetta Stone program for Mandarin (Chinese)
-Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

I am really apprehensive of JAG but only because I don't want to do the same thing I do everyday then go and do it for drill.

He said Intel and Supply. He was putting in my package for the upcoming Intel Board. All I know is that it is supposed to be sent to Pensacola

I had a face to face with him, and basically he said it is a waiting game. I try to check in with him once every two weeks or so. I've already passed MEPS and did the NASIS info stuff.

In a way that is kind of the basis of the DCO program, bring people in to the reserves into jobs that have experience/do that job in their civilian career.

Apply for the designator for which you are most competitive for the DCO process. In the end, it does not matter what you commission as or if you have any experience in that area vis-a-vis your success in said designator. The jobs are not that difficult and you are taught what you need. Additionally, you are also learning on the job for your first four years (i.e., as an O1 and an O2).

I've seen attorneys commission as Intel, Crypto Warfare, Supply, HR, and JAG.

The OP doesn't have any HR certs, so that can be scratched. For JAG, he needs 1 year of Navy experience which I believe he doesn't have.

I just want to serve, I'll do whatever I a told to.
I may be alone in the following comments...but it wouldn't be the first time.

Not once did you indicate what YOU wanted to do...other than "just serve". Honorable, I suppose, as far as it goes, but short-sighted in terms of long-term success and sense of fulfillment. Your recruiter is a good resource for advising you on where your strengths may lie, and what the qualifications are for various pipelines. Beyond that...I dunno. Apply only for those things wherein you think you'll thrive and be happy. Other than your academic degrees, your "other stuff" is a little all over the page, and largely irrelevant, The language stuff might help someday if there's genuine fluency...the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu not so much...and the same goes for your various society memberships.

You can always go back to the legal world. Why not hang up the suits for several years and go active duty in a warfare community? I don't think you'd hate yourself for doing something truly extraordinary for a few years.

But that's just me.

This. All of this. Everyone wants to serve somehow, it's just a matter of what YOU want to do and of course what's "available". Your OR can assist.

Yes, and sometimes it takes spitting in the wind a couple times to see where to go. If OP goes active duty, there's a lot more he can go for because the DCO program is very, very specific. If OP gets pushed towards SWO, however, I feel that would take some extra consideration.

If you want to go JAG call the Air Force, they will take you in a heartbeat.

Are they short on JAGs or something?
