Were you injured or something? Why'd you ship if you couldn't pass the minimums? Sorry that happened though good luck with whatever you're next move is
I found out that I was coming the first week of June. I told my recruiter I could not do the pushups but she said that my ship date could not be changed.

Well it's good to know we can't delay our ship date.

Other push up strugglers - Stew Smith's program has taken me from 20 --> 45 over 4 weeks.

The program is just to do 4x your max as total volume every day.

Also they are super strict on pushups form. You must go all the way down and break 90. Then extend all the way to the top and lockout your arms.

I heard that the IST is that way, and then your final test is judged by another candidate so they might be a bit more relaxed.

Either way, I'm doing them as perfectly as I can right now.

When you take the IST, the In PFA and the mid PFA everyone will be out on the pt field doing curlups/ pushups another student will be counting but there will be like 10 RDCs/ DIs out there yelling at people. If your form is bad they will give you one warning if you don't correct it they will stand you up and you're done.

Tater, how long did they give you between your attempts at the IST? Did you stay with the class after the first failure?

Sorry about your situation man, I hate to hear that.

You take the IST on Tuesday and there is a retake on Thursday. If you fail you will roll into HClass and you will be able to to take it again when the new class comes in 3 weeks later. They let me roll in H class twice so 6 weeks.

Not to be rude, but what did you do wrong for six weeks to not get the numbers up? Like looking back, what do you wish you had done?

First IST I did 21 pushups, second I did 26, third I did 30. I did tons of push-ups during regimental pt and in my hatch at night. I just needed more time.

I have been doing the Armstrong Program and that works as well. Although it is geared toward pull-ups, the morning pushups have gone up dramatically for me. I may do it a little different but I wake up and do a set of max pushups, perfect form with no stopping. I do 3 sets with 5 minute breaks between. I’m not worried about getting pushups in 2 minutes at this point as I feel if I can do a lot without stopping, I will be fine with a 2 min constraint. My first morning I started I did 50 push-ups on set 1. Now I’m about 4 weeks into doing this everyday and I’m up to 91 on set 1 without stopping for rest. I also timed it just to see one time if I’m good on time and I was at about a second per pushup so my speed and strength has increased.

All programs for this boil down to the same concept - increase volume.I'm a little in the dark on what my numbers might be because I do them after already lifting weights. Probably will wane off closer to OCS to get a better gauge.

91 is really really good man.

If you can do 91 push-ups you should be able to crush this program.
