USMC USMC FY18 Aviation Bonus

At least it’s something...? They should tie bonuses to qual/designations and make it scale upwards. Do we really want to give $40k to a 4 year copilot or a dude can’t pass a section lead check? Probably better spent giving that to the guy who is actually usable.

WTI's already have an extra commitment so this two year bonus doesn't do much there. It's not nearly enough money but at least they're a few years late offering it.
 
Apparently the AF is short 1,920 pilots, which equates to a loss of $10 billion. So by my simple math, that equates to roughly $5 million per aviator. Doesn't a bonus of $100,000 a year make more sense and still allows the AF to get off at a rate of $1 million vs $5 million if qualified dudes were to accept a 10 year contract after their initial contract is up?

I speak about the AF only because I know the USMC won't ever contemplate anything close to that.
