Questions about commissioning as Naval Flight Officer

Howdy,
I am currently a junior in college right now majoring in Computer Science with a 4.0 GPA. I am currently working with recruiter right now to go through the NUPOC pipeline as it is something that I am interested in. I will be going to the NVIP trip pretty soon and I feel as though that might help me decide whether or not I would like to go that route. However, lately I have been increasingly interested in becoming a naval flight officer. I have done some research online and it seems that you would need pretty good vision to become one. I don't have perfect eyesight (maybe around 20/50 in the right eye and 20/40 in the left) and I have been wanting to know how frequently they give sight waivers for those who want to become NFOs. Also, I am wondering how competitive it is to become a NFO through OCS.

If your recruiter only does NUPOC, get in touch with a regular General Officer Recruiter to talk options about going NFO. Don't worry about the vision.

YOU, not the RECRUITER, needs to do the research on both NUPOC and NFO and determine which route meets your background/goals.

Thanks I will do some research and talk to a general recruiter. One more questions if you don't mind. If I wanted to do both is it possible that after my initial NUPOC commitment I could leave and apply again to be an NFO?

See my above post with talking to a recruiter. You either have or are going to have a lot of good questions. Save them and ask a recruiter once you talk to him/her.

If you want to know more about being an NFO, search the threads around here to learn more.
