My Introduction

Hello to all on Air Warriors,
I believe it is time to make my introduction after reading for countless hours on this forum.
To start off, I am 19 years old from TX, a transfer student about to attend UTSA in the fall of 2017.
My major is Civil Engineering, with a gpa of 3.92. All of my basic classes are complete and I will be getting to the heart of my selected major this coming semester. Currently, I am working with a Navy OR on completing my packet for the CECP. I must say that the information on this site is invaluable and has helped me in the extreme. I took the OAR a week ago and got a 57, my LOR's are in order (From a USAF O-6 ret. A USAF E-7 ret. The Chief Recreation Division MWR at USMA GS-13 (ret.) and a college professor.) All I am missing is the phone interview with the CEC Accessions Officer, however my OR says that could happen shortly. All in all, I am happy to join the community of AW, look forward to learning as much as I can and contribute when i can.

Welcome to the page. As mentioned many times over, please utilize your OR and searching throughout AWs before creating threads and asking questions. Very likely, your question has been asked many times over and/or can easily be answered by your recruiter. Additionally, your question is very likely to be answered on here if you've taken the initiative and done the homework prior to it being asked.

I must say that the information on this site is invaluable and has helped me in the extreme.

Any time one of my Sailors expresses interest in becoming a pilot I refer them to this website. I don't know how the hell any of these old farts around here made it into the Navy without this website! (I feel a sea story about joining in the dark ages is not far behind! )

Chicken or the egg? Forum or book? Having participated (in some capacity) with this website since '01, it has been interesting to watch.

BTW, for aspiring Gold Wingers, that book (published in '98) still holds up reasonably well, as does Bogeys and Bandits (also published in '98). Both imperfect, but good perspectives for aspirants.

I know, right? We actually had to have enough interest to locate a recruiter, figure out the wickets to go through, take the aptitude tests without benefit of on-line study guides, and stay in touch with the recruiter while the process played out...using only telephones, snail mail and face-to-face contact.

What a nightmare!

Or just fill out the NROTC forms and keep showing up to drill on time while staying off the NROTC LT's radar until it came time to fill out your dream sheet.

How did you, like, "locate a recruiter" without the internet? One of those old doorstops people used to call a "phone book?" And how did you get to the recruiter's office without GPS? Don't say you used a map...how would you even know where you are on the map while you're driving?

Google Maps has made life in this regard so much easier than when you had to "let your fingers do the walking."
