Wife's friend highly suggested "The Killing" on Netflix. We thought is was as good as advertised - on season 3 now. "House of Cards" on Netflix and "Game of Thrones" on HBO are also fantastic.

Any other shows that people can recommend?

An Idiot Abroad. You come to question whether the main character Karl Pilkington is an idiot or a genius.

The "Netflix Original Series" are surprisingly good. When it comes to original content, I'd say they're rapidly catching up to HBO, and that's saying something.

"Marco Polo" - the history is kinda sketchy, but it's a great show otherwise.
"Narcos" - DEA and Colombian Army vs Escobar and the cartels in the '80's.
I liked "Daredevil" but it didn't really hook me.

I second what Uncle Fester said about Netflix Originals. They are really good. I really enjoyed the show Bloodline. Also Peaky Blinders is a really cool show about an old Irish gang in 1920's Belfast. And I just started Heroes which so far is good if you're into that sci-fi superhero scene.

I couldn't get into the Bloodline show, I was hoping to enjoy it, but I slowly lost interest after the first couple episodes (YMMV).

Not NETFLIX:
- Heroes Reborn. Continuing the story line? Starts 24SEP
- Limitless. (spinoff from Bradley Cooper movie) Starts 22SEP

AMAZON. I have enjoyed the two free episodes of the Amazon series, The Man in the High Castle. "Based on Philip K. Dick's award-winning novel, and executive produced by Ridley Scott (Blade Runner), The Man in the High Castle explores what it would be like if the Allied Powers had lost WWII, and Japan and Germany ruled the United States. Starring Rufus Sewell (John Adams), Luke Kleintank (Pretty Little Liars) and Alexa Davalos (Mob City)."

Thanks in no small part to my wife, I've ravaged Netflix for everything Anthony Bourdain has ever done. Off the top of my head, there's Parts Unknown, No Reservations, Layover and Mind of a Chef (this one's a little different). I'm a huge fan of his journalism, humor and subject matter. His writing (i.e., narrating) style is awesome. If you want something to be on while you're doing something else, these are fun to stream.

That's all I could come up with that hasn't already been mentioned in this thread. Big fan of a lot of stuff mentioned above.

Don't you just wish you could be him and travel all over the world and eat everything? haha. I really like his shows too!

The Parts Unknown episode on Iran is fascinating.

In a similar vein as Man in the High Castle, I got into The Americans over the summer and it is excellent (period early 80s show about deep cover Soviet agents living in the US, think Mad Men meets James Bond).
