ASTB study guide

heres a good one....

http://www.proprofs.com/flashcards/search.php?page=1&search=astb

also...local libraries have free astb electronic tests (timed) that are free and you can keep taking them. there are also plenty of books with numerous practice tests

GOOD LUCK

I was using them yesterday to study and they aren't too bad. But I'm trying to get as much help as possible, none of the study guides are opening for me. Can someone send it to me in an email? And if I'm understanding correctly, the consensus is the new version by accepted inc does help?

This is a question for Patrick Leblanc. I was looking at the study guide you posted (which I do appreciate by the way) and I came across this question...

A businesswoman spends 1/5 of her income for rent, and 3/8 of the remainder goes towards salary. How much does she have remaining? • First take 1/5 away from 1, giving her 4/5. Multiply 4/5 * 3/8 = 12/40 = 3/10. • 3/10 is the final answer

To me the solution seems incorrect. Wouldn't you need to subtract the 3/10 from the 4/5. I think the 3/10 illustrates the amount that went to the salary.
My question is simply, what do you think?

It's .5. Taking away 1/5 would leave 4/5 total which = .8. 3/8 of .8 is .3, leaving you with .5 remaining.

You could also do 5/5 - 1/5 = 4/5... 8/8 - 3/8 = 5/8... (4/5)*(5/8) = 4/8 = 1/2 (since she has 5/8 of 4/5 of her initial salary remaining)

Hi, I'm new on here so sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place. But I will be taking th OAR in a couple of weeks, and I'm just wondering if anyone could give me some advice on what to expect as well as any study material. I have one study book but not sure if it will be sufficient.

Clinton, welcome to AirWarriors! You are at the right place. Under the ASTB subsection of this site, you will find a plethora of great feedback from those that have gone before you. I suggest that you spend hours upon hours of reading said threads to find the answer you seek. Good luck and god speed!

Hello All,

Just wanted to start this thread to focus on the UAV section on the ASTB and to post some of the gouge i found for it. I would like to hear about any successful strategies to use for this section, i have not found or came up with one that makes sense or is correct for all problems that i have seen.

Thank you and i hope to find a strategy that works !

Bassem,
Have you read all the ASTB gouge on this site? I find it hard to believe that you've not found ANYTHING here.

BTW, I don't believe the flashcards you posted are correct.

Sir,

Would you mind elaborating a little on that? I know the graphical presentation may be different on the ASTB but I was under the impression the methodology between the TBAS and this section of the ASTB were the same, and I've been using that particular set of flash cards to study quite a lot and they seem to make sense to me. I'm taking the test very soon, so if that method is wrong, I'd like to start "un-learning" those ASAP.

When I looked at the first flash card, I thought it was wrong, but after reviewing it again, I was reading it wrong by not understanding what the red line represented. So they are correct, but I'm not sure it is that similar to the ASTB. The attached gouge is good to go.

Would you mind explaining your logic in figuring it out for me? I understand a few of them but then when it comes from directions such as SW and asks for West the correct answers and my answer do not match at all.

Your explanation would be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

The Red Arrow represents the direction the UAV/Aircraft is travelling. The view on the right is what is seen from the pilot/UAV perspective. Here's how I solved it.

this is as close as I can get you to what the uav portion of the test actually looks like. its pretty damn close
untitled.png

little yellow and red thing in the middle of the map is the aircraft. big end is the tail, pointy end is the nose. pointy end indicated A/C direction of travel. on the parking lot portion, the white arrow is showing which lot would be the north lot given this map. in the actual test, the N,S,E,W of course would not be there. its just here for reference and instruction. hope this helps
