SuperHumanResources - do you actually work in Navy personnel management; and if so, are you posting on this board in an official capacity?
Honest question: so how exactly are IRR officers expected to earn their required 27 points per year to maintain good standing (forget good year for retirement purposes) if they cannot do correspondence courses? Not all officers live near a NOSC that performs funeral honors duty. Also, basically all, ADTs/ADSWs require a CAC card to even apply.Gents,
Attached is the new policy as it relates to the ability to earn retirement points by doing correspondence courses. Bottom line is that PERS-93 won't approve performing correspondence courses unless they are:
a. Broadening their qualifications for duties to which they may be expected to perform upon mobilization, or
b. Broadening their knowledge of the qualifications of those whose work they may supervise. (Performance of ADT)
These changes went into effect on 01OCT14. As such, it will be extremely difficult to perform enough correspondence courses in order to earn a "good year".

Does anybody have any specific recommendations for/against an of the courses listed on the approved listing? I'm guessing from earlier posts that TST102 is rough. I'm looking mainly at the 5-8 point courses. Any recommendations?
In reality, it is so difficult to re-affiliate to SELRES, that attrition is the only mission. The intent appears to be enough online points for 2-3 years and then return to drilling SELRES or VTU. Beyond that, attrition is the mission.

No, it's still hard. It took me two years...and I was picky about my unit, so I travel there. I think the process/requirements changed while I was in the hopper, so that was probably part of it. Definitely not easy though, and SWO gains maxed out for the FY in Feb (not sure if that's strictly O-3s or all though). Not as hard when you are willing to go for a billet where folks are needed, we have 5 empty O-5 billets in my command because folks aren't willing to travel.
Nice ... now the NPC Web Page (including the Reserve Personnel Management /IRR section) appears to require a CAC to access documents (such as the approved course listing, annual muster/screening form, etc.).
FTN man, FTN... If they'd grandfathered people maybe I wouldn't feel like the rug had pulled. I'm SELRES now, so I'll see if I can post the list here. If not, PM me or something. My heart is still with the IRR.This is beyond ludicrous, they've gone plaid...

Sent you a PM.Just finished up all of the courses the Navy Reserves said are going away by 31 May. Does anyone know if the courses we had to do every year as a SELRES - information security, sexual harassment, etc, are available to do without a CAC card and how many points they are worth?
