When you get above MIFs on your worst flight (or the other way around), it just feels like it sometimes :)

It's a little more complicated than you make it out. Just because you suck doesn't mean you suck at everything. Especially if it's something you're suppose to suck at but you suck slightly less than the standard presumed level of suck.

One of my onwings (and used to be here on AW for a while) had his absolute worst flight on FAM 12 (or C4204, for those that habla). I still passed him, because he met the standard, albeit without many grades above MIF. There's more to the story, but you get the idea.

Of course. Just exaggerating it a little so I could use Drew Carey.

My favorite part of primary was when the debrief was: "good flight, any questions?" And then the IP tossed your grade sheet on the table next to you as he walks out. When you pick it up you see that you got all MIF, which at that stage includes many 2's AKA unsafe/unables. That always felt good.

To be clear, shit like that only happened a few times to me while in Primary, and it was almost always an IP with a known penchant for that

My most memorable was with a (AF A-10 pilot) who slurped oversized pieces of watermelon at 70dB while I tried to debrief the flight. Thanks for your attention, asshole.

It was always good when the grade sheet was a week late and all MIF'd out while the comments consisted of just how many times you did each maneuver. IP clearly remembered that flight.

Reminds me of the gradesheet roundup everyone in my class had to do before we could technically be complete and receive our wings. Inevitably we all had MIA gradesheets from IPs who had been long gone. The scramble was then on to find an IP to give you a gradesheet. I'm pretty sure it became a contest between the IPs on who could write the most hilarious comments on a MIF'd out gradesheet for a flight that happened months prior. They were almost K Court good.

I would love to see you current students re-read this in say...7-9 years when you are at the end of your instructor tour!

We do the best with what we have. Some of us are awesome instructors, so me not so much.

I hate time wasting debriefs as much as the next guy. The only point of that anecdote was to complain about being called unsafe/unable without any amplifying information other than the "good flight."
