You still have a few options, and enlisting shouldn't be one of them. You think your dead end job makes you un-happy? Try being a non-designated airman on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier....or better yet, serving chow in the galley for hours on end. If you are un-happy with your current work situation, then try finding another job while you wait for OCS.

As far as your OCS application goes, there are always things your can do to improve your package (not kit). Re-write your personal letter, re-take the ASTB, review and improve your LORs, or volunteer in the community. The world is yours for the taking.

Whether your are flying an airplane or waiting for OCS PRO-REC/Final Select, sometimes it's better to sit on your hands and do nothing while the situation develops.

Sometimes "significant change" comes from outside forces beyond your control. "The Needs of the Navy" (you'll hear this phrase often…) change over time, sometimes dramatically.

Exactly what I was thinking. Even with changing nothing in your package, outside changes improving your chances may include:

1. Increased slots available v qualified applicants available.
2. A different board composition might view your package more favorably.
3. Reapplying indicates to the board, your dedication, focus, and the determination to attain your goal and serve.

*The idea mentioned to get out and volunteer and document some come form of community service, is 'golden'. Though time consuming, it doesn't cost the $$$ of another college semester, and probably improves your package equally. Hint: Most local hospitals welcome qualified volunteers to drive (hospital vehicle) elderly/handicapped patients to/from outpatient and Dr. appointments It's a neat gig, meet interesting people, and volunteer service attracts the attention of board members!

Chin up! I'm working a dead end job too (well, maybe not dead end, but certainly not one I enjoy) waiting for my Finsel. Just keep the ultimate goal in your sights and the going will get easier.

And I definitely agree with Renegade's and ea6bflyr's (not that my opinion on the matter carries any weight): you want to be an officer, then pursue that and don't enlist; you have time.

Kit is an odd term to define an application package. When I hear kit, I think of:
