I suspect that each piece has some familial significance.

I just wish more of our fellow 'citizens' would respect, and treat this holiday as more than just a long weekend... only special for an auto race, and a barbecue.

I took these pictures at a local park early this morning. The folks you see in the background were there (before the crowds) to enjoy the history and pay homage.

Agree with you BzB, but you gotta give credit to the shows and how they honor the Military in both the Indy 500 and the Coca Cola 600 ;)

No worries! This is historic downtown Frederick. We “kick ass and take names” here.:)

The wife and I headed over to D-FW National Cemetery this morning for the scheduled 1100 Memorial Day ceremony. At 1030 while still 2 miles from the site, traffic came to a standstill, and then we crawled at a snails pace. We started to accept the fact that we should have started much earlier, as we had severely under-estimated the crowd. We reached the parking lot of a nearby mega-church where they were shuttling people to the cemetery, and the line waiting to board the buses was over a block long. At that point, we conceded, and started to just walk and get as close as we could to try and at least see the flyover. At 1107, four F-16's approached from the west and executed a missing man formation fly-by. My only complaint (aside from the fact that it was Air Force and not Navy) was that they must have been constrained by altitude restrictions due to the close proximity of DFW, because the missing man only climbed about 800-1000 feet before rolling on his back and re-acquiring the formation. I was extremely impressed by the huge turnout of people. Many were with their small kids, carrying flowers and small flags, and were waiting 30 minutes or more to board the buses. It restored my faith in the thoughtfulness and patriotism of our great nation.

What I was trying to point out was that this family really spent some time and money to decorate their house, windows included. That’s all my friend.

My error, sir, I guess I'm too suspicious, and quick to look for the bad instead of the good. The traveling Viet Nam memorial wall was in town, and I saw your post right after I got home from going to the wall. It was a moving experience, I'm going to make a point of going to D.C. to see the actual memorial.

Well, the F-16 is "locally grown" in Fort Worth...so maybe appropriate.
