Wasn't clear in the interview. Nothing was said about the element setting up a Rescap or contacting the downed aircrew on gaurd......seemed like an odd thing to leave out of the interview.

Never flown the E-model, but same basic airframe as the A/C. The aircraft is restricted to 30 units AOA (about 21 degrees of actual AOA) with full or partially full external wing tanks due to the potential for weight imbalance. It's also limited to below the same AOA limit with an internal wing fuel imbalance due to transfer issues (not common). Unbalanced ordnance could also create the same situation.
The combination of imbalance with this AOA regime create a potential for departure, typically resulting in a flat spin. It's not a guaranteed event if you put yourself in that situation but it's happened plenty of times over the years. Higher altitude increases the potential for the AOA overshoot (obviously).
No finger pointing - just information about the flight characteristics of the aircraft in question.
Edit: Sorry for the redundancy - I didn't read the link provided by FlyinSpy prior to posting.
