Living the dream
My understanding of the USAF version was that it was limited to a Type III / SCAR mindset.
No such thing. Limited to SCAR? Ok. Perhaps. But you can't be limited to one type of control. It doesn't work that way.

And btw, it's just shy of 1,000 lbs.![]()
Agreed. The mindset tying Type III to SCAR is one that originated with the original definition of Type III and its correlation to risk and the idea that it was only done a long way away from friendlies, which is no longer the case. Numerous individuals are still clinging to that mindset (the A-10 incident at Nasariyah didn't help), and you see it manifested in restrictions in the use of Type III.
You can do Type III danger close, the distance to the friendlies is not a factor.
Having a legacy Hornet as a tanker? Thats like having an alcoholic as your bartender.
Legacy Hornets can't carry buddy stores. E/F only (not the G). Those pics are single seat Rhinos.
So, a 1,000 lbs more give, correct?
Making sure that mission critical go/no-go asset gets all the fuel it needs...
Some more of that fine single seat tanker tradition (no NFO needed to run a buddy store).
is one better significantly better than the other in 1v1 acm?
Two seat Rhinos tank as well.
