IA/GSA Billets Stateside

Anyone know of any 6-month IA/GSA billets located in the U.S.?

I'd like to volunteer for an IA position opening up ASAP, or GSA next year.

Looking for someone who knows of a billet and/or person currently on an IA/GSA INCONUS.

Additionally would consider an IA/GSA to Europe or longer than 6 months.

Thanks for the help!

When I volunteered for a GSA, I was given three choices....Iraq, Iraq or Iraq. Though I ended up in Korea for 365 days. Shit happens

I understand that these are "good deals" and that most IA/GSA's are to the 5th fleet AOR. I realize these type of billets won't help my package as much as a "hard fill", but it's a compromise. Doing it in hopes that it helps more than not doing one at all. Thanks for the replies.

You could be a hero and volunteer for a Marine IA, thus ever so slightly limiting my odds of taking one for the team.

There was one guy here who had the dreaded Tampa/Mons Venus IA a few years ago.....

Tampastan IA's are few and far between. Just suck it up and go to Iraq like the rest of the men.

I will say that my year of working Counter-IED in Iraq was the most rewarding of my career. Not the most fun or best flying or time with family. But I know that the equipment I was tasked with getting installed and Marines trained on saved some lives. And that is enough.

BTW, it is generally considered bad form to ask for a good deals. Work them as much as possible but be modest when they come your way. No-one is hated more than the guy who snags all the good deals.

Iraq IAs are becoming few and far between, they really are planning to pull out by the end of the year. Afghanistan is the name of the game now with some IAs going to Qatar and Djibouti with a few elsewhere in the Middle East, they may be locked down in Bahrain right now but they can still drink every night if they can find it. Gitmo along with some CONUS and EUCOM cats and dogs are in the mix but definitely a tiny minority, for the CONUS ones they often seem to be specialized like SuppOs, PAOs and JAGs.

Long story short, pack warm and enjoy Afghanistan.

SteveG75, Thanks for the words of advice. I understand the "rest of the men" are going to Iraq...just like I did 4 years ago. After heading to Iraq & being double-tapped at my last command, I received my 5th choice of orders. So, I'm definitely not the guy sucking up "all the good deals".

I don't need to volunteer for an IA, but am interested in gaining some joint experience without having to head overseas while on my shore tour. Therefore, if anyone has any insight on potential jobs outside the 5th fleet AOR please let me know...otherwise I'll just finish out my current set of orders.

Well, that info changes things. No where did you say that you had already been to Iraq. IA/GSA or some other billet? Your profile really has no info and no wings with your name. I made an assumption based on lack of facts.

You really need to provide more info if you want good responses.
