I'll be at VMM-561 on Friday from 0800-1230. Some of you might be saying "Wait a minute, that I've never heard of that squadron. It doesn't exist." Oh but it will in December of 2010.

I'll be there Saturday. My static display will be a 2009 Green Gecko Bugaboo stroller with a loudmouth 1 year old tossing shit out of it.

I've got to say it......I didn't like the way Miramar puts on their airshow. The acts were great but the setup was terrible. I've been going to the Nellis airshow for the last 10 or so years and they set it up better. Miramar has too many bleachers that completely block out the static displays from the action. Nellis has very few bleachers with most viewers standing or using lawn chairs. Without the bleachers, you can wander the static displays and still see the flying action. It also cost a lot more money to see the show at Miramar than Nellis - because to see it any good you had to sit in the bleachers and they charged to sit in the bleachers. Admission is free at both but Nellis doesn't have the bleachers.....and the free admission at Miramar doesn't do any good because of those damn bleachers......

Anyway, you get the idea.

MIDNJAC - I went by VMFAT-101's booth and plane three times (twice before noon and once late afternoon) and no one answered up to your handle or being on Airwarriors. In fact, only Navy I saw in the booth was a chick NFO.

Sorry we missed each other.....I didn't get there until about 2 with traffic being pretty bad coming off I-5, and the wifey and I were roving quite a bit trying to see the action (agree that the orientation of statics is bad for watching the demos). You met "Cougar", though she is a Marine :)

Cougar had railroad tracks on the shoulders of her bag. I thought the Marines didn't do that.

QUASI THREAD JACK. I went to the "Swinging Door bar in old town Tustin CA. (sister bar is the Salty Dog).

I also dissaprove of the recent years Miramar Air Show stand layout and O'Club Managers attitude towards us old non-active duty folks parking our RV's at the O'Club. This year we finally blew off the show and went to the Swinging Door in Tustin - The Pump Room in Santa Ana and almost remembered going to the Salty Dog. All the gals there in the calendar ARE active bartenders and yes they look as they appear in the calendar. Until Miramar goes to Air Show Rehab- I'm sticking to the girly girl bars in OC for this weekend in the future. My best bud Steve is the subject in this photo but Nea (from Brazil) gave my 6 yr old son (leukemia fighter) an equally nice calendar. I mean how many 6 year old have pen pals that look like this? Too bad I can't show him what she actually looks like for another 10 years. His mommy saw the calendar and forbid me tonight. end thread jack.
