Wait Time/Pass Rate

I know if I dug deep enough I'm sure I could find these answers in these forums somewhere...but if anyone has a minute and wouldn't mind saving me the search that'd be appreciated.

Heard the required pass rate (Academics + prac. app) at API is 94% now? Is that true?

Any updates on the wait? Charlie Co.'s graduating in October - be good to know what's happening. Last we heard was Lt's are being tasked out to I,II,III MEF for whatever the wait time is (?). Any info would be appreciated.

Oh and if anyone whose been through API has any swim tips they'd be appreciated too. I'm not a rock...swim 1 wasn't too hard...I just don't like swimming.

If you're a marine, 80 is passing. Don't sweat it, get here and figure it out.

Don't sweat the swimming. If you can do it with flc, flak, pack, rifle, etc..., you can do it with a flightsuit on.

As for the wait time, it is what it is, as soon as you think it is going to go fast it will slow down. Nothing you can do about it, so don't even bother thinking about it.

Edit: Also, no need to post the same questions twice in different places...in the time it took you to write it all twice you probably could have done that search you were so worried about taking up your time with...

Bravo Co Marines are scheduled to start API in April 2011. But, we've been told it may be as soon as January with the increased Marine spots in API. Charlie Co SNA's should be starting shortly after us. Of course, the projected start dates seem to change weekly so your guess is as good as mine.

API start dates are going as fast as people can get through with IFS these days. The Pilot NSS is around a 94% but USMC only needs to get around an 85 to pass (and stay off the radar in primary).

Careful giving out gouge to Marines here. Their system is not the same as ours, so you may be giving them bad info.

Where did you get that info? And are you suggesting that the VTs are passing anyone wearing an Eagle, Globe and Anchor with a pulse? It's garbage...

Delta is classed up. Echo is starting now. Corpus slots are as high as 4 and as few as 0 Marines per API class, VT-3 (t-6) slots are few and far between right now. 10 Marines are still classing up per class with no post API pool. An 80 is still the attrition grade. However, average grades for Marines are in the low 90s. Honestly, anything below a 90 is embarrassing; you should always be shooting for 100%.
Ground school at TW-5 is being compressed to 9 days. Saturday is turning into a working day. Guys are also flying orange and whites out of PNS on Sundays.

Thanks everyone.

AirGrunt (or anyone that knows) - did Bravo get a chance to do IFS in Pensacola? Or has it gone away completely? No word on that here. And are you being tasked out to the MEF's until January/whenever your API start date is?

Where are you getting your information from? The NSS is a 43 (NAVY), and that has nothing to do with the test average, which are also weighted differently. The Marines have a totally different system, their NSS remains a 35. So you can fail up two (2) test and still make it.

Just so you know, when I went through API, if you failed A test, you were 98% Done, unless you got 98s on the remaining tests (Doable, but hard). At that time people with 93 ish test average were still making it. After I went I Known a few people that failed A test and still made it and they didnt have to get 98s on the remaining tests. That tells you that the changing test average is lower than a 93%. You cannot figure out these averages simply because they are constantly changing. So all the numbers are WAG.

We may be doing IFS when the new fiscal year starts in October. It depends on funding, but the plan is to have us complete IFS in Oct/Nov in Pensacola. The whole TAD to the MEFs thing is also still in the air. They still would like to send us TAD for a few months but if the API start dates get pushed up like projected, it probably won't happen.

I am just giving out gouge as it applies to the past month or so. I have friends that have been NSSed out for getting about a 93 percent average on tests giving them an NSS of a 42. The marines seem to be rocking it out so far in my class though. Their averages are around a 94% or better.

Seriously, do you understand that Marines don't have to meet the 43 NSS?

I second, Synixman. I'm in week 4 of API right now, full of AF, Marines, Navy, and me (the few Coasties). The only one sweating right now are the guys in NAvy uniform. Marines need an 80% on their tests.
