I've only used/needed one pair. Been wearing them since primary, but I've only needed them for takeoffs and landings the past year. I flip shit if I don't have them; they've got too much accumulated luck to fly without.

For black or tan, do you folks pay out of pocket or does it depend on theater, A/C's mission, etc.?

The "Clips" on the Kiowa are strictly for holding the M4 onto the dash in case somebody flies outside that wussy 60 degree bank limit. Doors off smors off, Skids are for Kids.

You're just jealous because in a ten day period I can fly ten times instead of being grounded eight times at the airfield and the PLing on the ninth time.

You can just have supply order them for you when it's replacement time. Or, when you go in theater, you will get plussed up to the desert gear.

I keep trying to scam as set of the black ninja ones, but supply claims they're impossible to get. I told them I'd take the new WileyX ones and they laughed at me. I guess the P-3 community won't be getting those until all of the old ones are out of the supply system. . .

It doesn't matter what the airframe is. You could be flying a 60 in the desert and you'll be carrying an M-11 and M-4 in the bird with you/on your person. Just because you fly a jet doesn't mean you carry a sidearm.

The flight suit is identical for all platforms. It's the add-ons that differ such as: SVU/CMU, g suit, helmet etc.

I stopped cutting the tips off my flight gloves.

I had one acquaintance who was in a fuel fire with the canopy open (A-6 land). He ended up with bad burns everywhere but where he had Nomex. Then, a RIO I knew shelled out of a burning Tomcat. He had gloves on but sleeves rolled up and ended up with second degree burn rings around both forearms.

After I climbed out of this bird, I always had "gloves on, sleeves rolled down".
