Just from this article, I can't decide if this is simply just Chavez trying to look important, or if this is actually news.

The LA Times had featured this photo of Chavez supposedly alleging it was the offending P-3 in their airspace. Readers informed them it was a US Navy publicity photo.

After some comment hell they took it down though. Awesome journalism...

I'm pretty sure that actually happened, though. Well, at least the broke venezuelan airspace part. The shoot 'em down part...not so much.

Well, it was LA Times who wrote caption that he was claiming it showed the P-3 over Venezuela (which looks a lot like Southern Maryland near Pax River!) so although Chavez deserves his just reward, in this case it was the media who goofed!
