Venezuela claims P-3 busted their airspace

Knowing the VP community....I wont be suprised if the PPC and MC get their papers pulled over this......sad.

Knowing Chavez, I wouldn't be surprised if the P-3 never came near the 12 mile limit.

The LA Times had featured this photo of Chavez supposedly alleging it was the offending P-3 in their airspace. Readers informed them it was a US Navy publicity photo.

After some comment hell they took it down though. Awesome journalism...

I suspect you're right....and the CAC will probably still be grounded while giving Old Football head the benefit of the doubt.

Didn't he already claim a US aircraft/UAV broke Venezuelan airspace a while back and the next time it happened, they would shoot it down? Riiiiight.

I'm pretty sure that actually happened, though. Well, at least the broke venezuelan airspace part. The shoot 'em down part...not so much.

What a douche...that's the Wikipedia pic of the P-3!

Well, it was LA Times who wrote caption that he was claiming it showed the P-3 over Venezuela (which looks a lot like Southern Maryland near Pax River!) so although Chavez deserves his just reward, in this case it was the media who goofed!

I heard he was going to book the pilot for exceeding the NATOPS AOB (as clearly shown from that picture). :)

Funny how these kind of things happen when Chavez is having more domestic troubles than usual.

Borrowing a page from Despot 101, eh? Argentina tried to distract the populace from domestic woes with a big win in the Malvinas...didn't quite turn out the way they hoped though. Then there was Parador...oops, that was a cruise flick!
