I'll back up lowflier03 at the expense of breaking my 3 year self-imposed silence on here. HSC-25 was slower than a bunch of ASW dudes in HS-14. Believe it.
And an HC squadron probably holds the record for most CSARs. I guess it's just a funny world sometimes.
One of my old 2Ps was on that det. Sounds like a need to make some calls and inquire into the present state of community pride.
One of the crossdecks I was on one of our birds went down so they sent up an HS bird that was being flown by an ex-phrog O-4 and some 2P who I'm pretty sure was told to sit on his hands and clear the O-4 right. It resulted in some quick patterns between the HS and the HSC bird, but my buddy held off the HS guys and never let them get the perch (because he knew he'd never hear the end of it).

Interesting because I am on the det that HS-14 flew with a very short time ago when one of our birds went down, and that's not what we saw.... We have video proof that we may or may not post on youtube which shows our bird picking a load, dropping on the carrier, picking a load of retro and clearing the deck ALL while a certain HS-14 bird is on short final to the hookup man. And this was our second operational vertrep.... for both pilots in the bird.
Pick, drop, retro pick, depart... all while one bird goes from final to a 30ft hover (yeah, that high... and scared to come down) over the hookup man... hmmmm... just sayin'. :icon_wink
I'm sure perspective accounts for a lot, but it can only be so cut and dry before you have to admit defeat.

Keep the pics coming!!! BTW, were any of these dets (or any other that we know of) actually assigned to and hangared on one of the new T-AKE class ships? I know that the T-AOEs are 5 star accommodations compared to the 4x6 closet I'm used to on the Gator, but these are supposed to put the rest to shame. I hear they're like staying at the Burj Al Arab. Truth?
Yup. We are on the USNS Carl Brashear (as the quote stated) and let's just say... I have my own stateroom, my own head with hot shower, and I have a big flat screen TV, PS3 and countless other amenities I brought with me for my room.
Life is GOOD.
And with that, I'll raise my bottle of MGD to you... because it's drunk bowling in Sasebo!

I've seen pull-out stateroom beds that become couches, but motorized? That reminds me of Otter's room in Animal House or something.

Ours did on CV-63 & CV-64 (figuratively, if not 'literally') ... and it was equipped w/ a SONY TV (good TV for the day -- but a weak, self-contained onboard channel selection) ... a primo (for the day) stereo system fully stocked w/ Sansui, Pioneer, Kenwood, TEAC, and SONY components (SONY ... when we got desperate) ... a fully stocked refrigerator w/ mega-snacks purchased while ashore ... and a 'nice' cigar humidor, too.
And let us not forget our 'secret spot' in the overhead ... IN the head ... other side of the bulkhead. Being one knee-knocker down from FLT-OPS on the O-3 level, if the A/C worked ANYWHERE on the ship -- it worked there and in our 2-man stateroom -- so the 'stash' was always 'chilled' ...
Life was good.
