Magic did an XO/CO tour as a SELRES at VC-12 the first time I was there. His humor (mentioned in a later post) must have been acquired after he left the Navy.

You are right Jack isn't exactly a funny guy. Perhaps humor wasn't the right word... His wit and creative writing were entertaining when he was in charge!

Although I was nominated & officially recommended by the 'Chief' (former Navy A-4 jock) in HNL to fill his retiring shoes ... I didn't get it ... probably 'cause I was 'too humorous'.
A fucking civie-street, straight-wing, commuter-grad member of the flight-ops 'club' extant at the time got it ... and during his tenure, he kept asking me for 'advice' ... :sleep_125

The only 'bad' joke I've been involved w/ was once at MEX-PAC, Coronado, while standing at the urinal, lookin' at the chalk-board -- the message of the day said:
"WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING UP HERE FOR ??? THE JOKE'S IN YOUR HANDS"
Mebbe 'old news' these days ... but it was very, very original in 'those' days ...
