I have no idea, I actually have a job that I need to show up to once in a while to keep the world safe for democracy, mom and apple pie ;). I am sure it was well attended by various staffers, think tanks and lobbyist types though, what else are they going to do?

I am convinced that this whole thing is actually a joke started by the Onion, or perhaps even the Dems, just so they could get a whole bunch of clueless old white men to say "teabagging" over and over again.

As further proof, I offer the "2M4M" campaign, which is supposed to be "2 Million for Marriage", an anti-gay marriage movement. Except 2M4M is also gay chat jargon.

As a comment on one website put this, and I am now stealing, what's next? "National Tossed Salad day" to protest the illegal immigrants who steal faming jobs?

Someone needs to learn to consult this handy Slogan Selection Assistance site, to avoid future embarassment.

I think the point lost on the guy that wrote the article and many people in the MSM was that the protests were about WASTED MONEY...

Money going to AIG, money going to GM jut to forestall the inevitable bankruptcy, money going to pork barrel projects owned by democrats, republicans, and all those other political parties (I'm from the state that had the rain forest museum , remember?http://www.siteselection.com/ssinsider/bbdeal/bd010108.htm )

We spend more money on stupid shit in this country while the people who raise this money work their ass off and hardly see any of it (driven through a pothole lately? seen your crime rate go up lately? how about the last time anyone has taken a train/greyhound/subway that has been built in the last 2 decades?)

When you look at the pork spending in this years budget, most of it goes to things we all agree on http://www.cagw.org/site/PageServer?pagename=reports_pigbook2009_database like roads, police, defense and schools.

But the amount spent on each project is ridiculous, oversight is minimal, and the details get hidden from the standard person. And the shitty part is that the media has stopped caring. They don't mind 3.2 million for "Minority Aviation Training" or 1.8 MILLION DOLLARS in Iowa to make pig shit smell better http://www.cagw.org/site/PageServer?pagename=reports_pigbook2009_database

(that last one actually made the news for about a day)

This is what happens to Federal money in Jax, FL http://www.news4jax.com/news/18478432/detail.html

They might as well flush it down the shitter or feed it to the Manatee around here; it would save the lawyers fees.

That is why Americans are pissed off on tax day...we (I) have no problem paying for the military, or paying for a road or a hospital or even a damn homeless shelter. But don't make me pay for stupid shit, don't waste my hard earned money and then not even have the decency to tell me where it went...I didn't go to any damn Tea Party or any other fucking demonstration, I couldn't afford the gas because I paid $538.00 in taxes this month alone...

Not sure about that one, but some idiot did do this in DC. Dumbass.

So it is okay for John Kerry to throw his (actually somebody else's)medals over a fence at the Capitol, but a box of tea is too far?

I don't see where Flash advocated for anything being thrown over fences... but generally speaking when terrorism is a threat and what not, it is probably not a good idea to throw an unidentified box over the fence of a building housing a head of state.

Too true. They care too much about entertainment to function as a public service anymore. The minute they realized that they could make more money telling right wingers that lefties were all baby slaughtering commies and tell left wingers that people on the right were all bible thumping racists then they could by reporting on government, we as a society immediately lost something. And the hell of it is that it's easier to do.
Make yourself look like a persecuted minority, invoke a siege mentality and watch your ratings soar. Hasn't anyone wondered why Fox news and Rush Limbaugh have the highest ratings, yet continue to rail about left wing media dominance? Or poor liberals bemoaning how nobody would vote for a black guy because so much of the country was racist?

I'd continue, but MSNBC has a fascinating piece of how rappers are wearing less bling recently..

Except many of them are chanting about taxation without representation, and their tea theme re-enforces that, which just makes them look idiotic. Last I checked, we still have those funny things called elections. These people have representation. They may not like their representatives, and they may not have gotten their preferred representative into office, but they are demonstrating total ignorance about what the phrase means, making it hard to take them seriously.

For the sake of a mildly witty (and provacative, whether intentionally or not) slogan, the sacrificed making sense. If what you mean is that you hate wated tax dollars and you disagree with how money is being spent, say that. Don't say that you object to not having represnetation, because possibly excepting DC residents, they very much do have representation. Did they forget about what happened last November?

Local news predicted around 50 would show up at the one here in Kansas City. By the time it died down 5000 had shown up, not including the handful of counter-protesters.

Yea I saw that. Saw some photos with the little robot cruisin' in front of the White House. Sometimes people don't really think about it. I feel bad for the guy. But you're right. He's a dumbass. (Although I think it is quite amusing.)

Midwest never really had big anti-war protests, I never really recall them popping up hundreds across the country with most having more than 1,000 besides Northern Cali and a few other spots.
