NFO Tests

Hi,

What medical test do the NFO do?
Is it same as a civilian ATPL class 1 medical?

Thx!

No, USN Pilot and NFO candidates undergo a different physical exam which is not outlined in the FAA medical system. Check the NOMI website if you care to see more about it.

In addition, the prospective NFO must have above average leg and upper body strength ... to facilitate carrying the pilot's helmet bag and pubs to & from the aircraft in addition to his own ... :)

It's also advisable for the average NFO to have very poor ability to recall details. If not, they risk their eyeballs sticking into the back of their head from rolling them at their pilots latest story about himself. :D

Capt'n, I am going to pass that tidbit on.

Hang on... why are you coming on here (from Sweden, no less?) asking specific questions about NFO med tests, and you don't even know what an NFO is?

What's your story, friend?
