I bought my tickets this morning. Tickets are available at the IMAX counter in the museum ($25 each, $20 if you're a Foundation member).

Would it be kosher to wear Dress Blues to an event such as this?

The Glenn Miller Orchestra will be performing on Feb 24 at the Naval Aviation Museum at 7:00 PM. Food and drinks available from the Cubi Pt. Cafe. This looks like it could be pretty fun!
This sounds like it will be a great time -- seriously. There's no better way to get the 'feel' of old Naval Aviation than to sit in a place like the CUBI O'Club bar (or it's present day PCOLA equivalent ?) and listen to the tunes like these guys will put out ...

It's not a question of "new" or "old" music ... it's rather an opportunity to take in some "good" music and some "traditions" that most of you missed .... I'd go were I there... :)

I think its "kosher" to wear dress blues any damned time you want. A beach party may not be appropriate but for a social event such as this, certainly.
I watch for events in which I think dress blues would make a proud statement and wear tham at every opportunity, medals and all. Too many people are being wussy and afraid they will be singled out as being too military? WTF is that all about?
I'm proud of my military time and don't hesitate to make it known.

I knew several of the original band members and did flight instruction with two of them in years past. Vinny Carbone and Tino Barzi, both sax players.

You have to take the prize as the "Senior" member of us old guys. You must have some really interesting stories.

I'd be there in a heartbeat if I were in the area. Great music, great atmosphere, great history, great tribute to a true patriot. One of my all-time favorite movies, "The Glenn Miller Story", starring another great patriot, Jimmy Stewart.

Went to a Big Band Night at the Mustin Beach O'Club back in 1984 as a SNFO w/ my now-wife, and roommate and his date-of-the-week from First Navy Bank. We were easily the only foursome under the age of 50, but it was a blast. Old folks trying to teach us how to dance to their tunes, old guys sharing sea stories w/ us, and a couple of people who even knew my parents. It sounded a bit sketchy when we first thought about going, and we were a bit bummed when it started out slowly, but it was a great time and we'd do it again in a heartbeat. Gotta learn to make your own fun in this game sometimes.

Jitterbug anyone? Great sounds from the WWII era. I wish I could attend this event, just love this music.

If you are an O-Club regular, this is another event that should be up your alley. I would go if I was there. Hey, AWG gotta be better for getting women than my usual jeans and Iron Maiden or Norton shirt.
