Look earlier in the thread, I already posted it. These guys were so loud that it caught everyone by surprise.

This really was a moving event. SECDEF Gates talked like he was sharing stories with friends. President Bush told a great story about his awkward speaking. Nothing was overdone and everything was on target.

tired, but happy

I worked at the commissioning today up in the flight deck and hangar spaces - had to report by 0600 and just got home. I didn't have the great views HJ did, but it was interesting to watch the HMX helo ops up close and personal. The other thing that I really enjoyed (other than meeting the San Jac crowd) was seeing the number of Bush family friends who attended the commissioning of Bush Sr's name sake.

I should have mentioned the obvious hard work and friendliness of the crew. There were a lot of cars that had to be parked and people that to be moved from the Helicopter Pad to buses and from there through security and channeled to appropriate seating areas. This was a Herculean task, but they pulled it off like they do it all the time. BZ to all!

I got quite the impromptu air show over at little creek today. Mrs. Pags and I were going to play some golf, noticed a local 60S circling the base and just as we were heading into the clubhouse several HMX-1 birds flew over, including Marine 1 (and a spinning backup) and the three cleanest Shitters I've ever seen. They went over to LZ Green and shut down there for a bit.

It was pretty cool how they orchestrated that and then manned the rails afterwards.

It was President Bush's last flight on Air Force One as president. What a good way for him to remember his last flight
