We gotta stop naming ships after living people.

I just hope that they are smart about where they park that thing. Bringing it to Norfolk now might not be the best idea.

I don't know if it is a good idea to bring such a young Bush that close to the "Big Stick"?

I would like to see some carriers named Lexington, Saratoga and after the current one is retired, Enterprise. At the very least they could stop naming them after Congressmen who weren't even veterans, no matter how much money they got to the Navy. I don't know if it will happen though since naming a carrier has become so political.

I'd love to see some of the "old school" carrier names be used again in the future. Naming them after battles of the Revolution is much better than living Presidents. But the CGs have taken over being named after battles, and even some old carrier names (Bunker Hill?).

Let's use:

Ben Franklin (again)
Hornet
Lex
Yorktown
Saratoga
Valley Forge

I always thought the brits had the market cornered on sweet names for Her Majesty's ships. HMS Dauntless, Resolute, Relentless, Indomitable etc etc. I guess until we name one the USS Trogdor I'll have to keep thinking of how awesome John Stennis must have been.

The HMS Battleaxe and HMS Brazen have long been favorites of mine.

When will the USS Airwarriors get commissioned? That should strike fear in the hearts of our enemies.

It would never get to the fight. It'd get threadjacked halfway there and go off on a tangent about how brokedick the acquisitions process is.

Don't forget about the nuisance of trolls running around the flight deck, too.

HMS Warspite and Illustrious were my favorites.

But while we're at it, the Brits did have some real stinkers too, mostly in the DD department. Who wants to serve on the HMS Dainty?
