I couldn't make it to the SHOW (and the short, turbulent, life of RickRoss27, Troll)

Hi all. I've lurked here for a couple years soaking up the gouge. Thanks for it all.

Packet sent out DEC 19, hopefully that is early enough...

SNA Only

8/8/8 57

B.S. Aviation Flight Techology, 3.92 from Indiana State
-Caveat: this is decreased significantly when the Navy factors in my less than stellar 2 years at IU. Navy GPA closer to 3.0. Hoping they will look past my party phase...:party_125

MEPS done, PRT not done

750 Flight hours, First Officer on CRJ-200

Leadership experience:
-Flight Team Captain
-Assistant Chief Flight Instructor at my collegiate flight school
-Golf Team Captain in High School

Letters:
College Professor and retired Air Force 0-5 (F-16)
College Professor and retired Navy 0-6 (Helos)
Chief Flight Instructor at my collegiate flight school

One skeleton that was incorrectly placed in my closet by an over zealous university cop. (seriously, the DA wrote me a letter of apology for having been arrested incorrectly and dropped the charge but the arrest is still on my record. Hoping the board will understand that one as well.)

Good luck to all and Happy Holidays!

I think with SNA/SNFO they just look at your final college transcript. I'm assuming your classes at Indiana transferred over to ISU?

They look at your cumulative GPA that should include all your classes, including transfers. That is the GPA that counts.

I think with people going in the medical field, the OR includes a "Navy GPA" calculation sheet that is included in the kit sent to the board. I asked my OR about this as well..and said they just look at your cumulative GPA, as opposed to a Navy GPA..which like I said previously would have been a factor if you were trying to become a doctor or something.

Again, this is what was explained to me.

Soooooooooooo , Suck ... why do you post as rst^#(*$^^#($*y and AirlinesSuck ... ???

Split personality, perhaps ???

It always "amuses" me when people think the airlines "suck" ... yet the ones who doth protest the most are usually the ones who didn't make the "cut" or didn't make it to "the Show" ...

Which is it for you??? :)

I don't like the airlines. That is why I chose that name. I have never once posted as rst^#(*$^^#($*y because that is my real name and that account wont even let me post for some reason. Thank you for putting my name on here.

!!!!!!!!!!!

Why do I post as both? Interesting question. Choose which answer you would like...

1. I don't. I have never actually made a post as rst********. I created my account some time ago. When I tried to post for the first time tonight it told me I did not have the ability to do so. I am sure you have the access to see that this is in fact the case.

2. I decided that using my real last name in a forum was completely retarded. I made a new one. Thanks for letting everyone know what it is though.

I am sorry if my username offends you. Since any sense of anonymity I might have maintained is now trashed after you so politely posted my real name, allow me to explain why I feel the airlines suck.

I fly for Comair. The company hired me along with hundereds of other pilots, displaced us all from our old jobs to move to Cincinnati. They hired us even though they didn't need us (of course that isn't what they told us). They were gambling on another airline going bankrupt. That didn't happen. So now they don't need us. We are all Furloughed, 300 of us. We were all hired on false pretenses and are now far worse off than before.

Not only did they do that, but they also decided that without warning they would garnish our last three paychecks to cover our uniforms that they made us buy. They did not tell us they were going to do this. We woke up on payday and had no checks. It was illegal and they didn't actually pay us our money until the Governor's office got involved and made them.

Those, among many other reasons, are why I think the AirlinesSuck. I assure you it has nothing to do with no making it to "the show" Would you kindly remove my name from your post?

First it sounds like you don't fly for ComAir since you're furloughed. :D
Second those are shitty reasons for saying AirlinesSuck

A more appropriate name would be ComAirSucks

or in your case I have the perfect name

IgotscrewedsoimgoingtobitchandmoanonanavalaviationforumbytellingeveryoneAirlinesSuck

Get a life you tool.

I work for the airlines and I love my job. LOVE IT! Maybe you should've done some research before you applied to ComAir and you might have realized it wasn't a great idea.

If you've got a beef with an airline keep it to yourself. This isn't an Airline Forum, it's a Naval Aviation Forum.

Oh....and Welcome to Airwarriors!

I didn't put your real "name on here" ... I guess YOU did, however. :)

I called up your two ... repeat, two ... attempts to gain entry into Air Warriors as a "member". You triggered the "oooops" software that notifies the MOD-SQUAD whenever a poster tries to take on a "new" identity. You see ... I didn't know your "real" name; just your two ID's that you signed up with ... if your "real" name is out here -- you did it.

Two identities = that's why you "couldn't post".

"
AirlinesSuck seems to have multiple personalities using rst&#*%))%*($y and AirlinesSuck sharing the same computer. No soup for you! and you! and you! "

By the way, I've been through the airline "wars" for the past 30+ years, worked for 3 carriers, was hired by 6, furloughed by 2 ...

Cry me a fucking river.

So you don't like the hand you were dealt in the airlines and now you want to come onboard Naval Aviation and hopefully make up for lost time ... ??? :)

Good luck. I love it.

Okay Mr. AirlinesSuck.

I work for Hawaiian Airlines and it ROCKS.

And by the way, I've been furloughed twice by Hawaiian, once for 6 months and once for 5 years. Management would ass-rape me in a heartbeat without any lube if it would save them a dime but I still say - working for Hawaiian ROCKS.

What makes it rock? My Hawaiian ALPA contract that gives me a great work schedule, great benefits, a pretty darn good paycheck, an awesome QOL and protection from those greedy management bastards (who BTW, are pretty business savvy and doing a good job of running the airline all things considered).

A little research on your part concerning airline life, especially regional airline life and Comair in particular, might have saved you some grief. But then again it sounds like you were one of the many starry-eyed aviation school graduates with shiny jet syndrome willing to fly for peanuts just to call yourself an airline pilot. By accepting the job that you did, you put yourself into the hands of a management team well known to screw their employees at every opportunity and in the hands of a local Comair ALPA unit that has made a name for themselves in the years since 9/11/2001 of trying to further themselves by stabbing their fellow pilots in the back. I have zero sympathy for you.

So what are you going to do if you are accepted as a SNA? Complain how the Navy screwed you because you spent extra time in OCS that cost you Ensign pay because the DI unfairly flunked you during the RLP? Or will it be pure bullshit that the Navy gave you helos when you think it's obvious that you're the world best fighter pilot?

Sometimes a job sucks - get over it. Your all encompassing generalization of airline life based on your vast experience really pisses me off.

I'm with A4s on this one. You're a fucking baby.

BTW, if you didn't want your real name to be known, you shouldn't have made it a user name. We have software that tells us when clowns like you have multiple user names.

Okay you guys are being completely ridiculous. Just because a guy has a screen name saying, "airlines suck," doesen't mean you have to run him into hell. The guy didn't do anything; my god. He just asked a fair question, which none of you guys answered yet. Yeah, so what if he wants to make the change to the Navy, due to airlines sucking. "I almost fell into the same trap." Thank god for ADD on my med records. I still thank my childhood shrink 'til this day. I'm just stunned at what I'm reading; I used to want to be a navy pilot, coming on here every time reading posts when I get the aviation bug.

Airlines sucks: I would recommend you looking into the Air Force or ANG; they are very respectful. I have just lost all respect for Navy pilots, "or at least these ones." 'probably washouts'

Please let's keep this thread respectful. I may just just be a kid in college, but my internships make by far more than any of you airline pilots, excluding about 65% of the majors. And don't ask me the average starting salary for our grads; you'll never top it in your career. So please when you are typing another immature insults directed at me this time, adjust your seat down 5" and look up at the computer screen as if I was standing in front of you.

This post really has to be too good to be true.

If you are for real I think the the Navy dodged a bullet with you, the little time you would have lasted would have been a waste of the taxpayers dime. Good riddance!

P.S. Hmmmm, troll?

I'm sure you're already aware of this, but just in case: Are you prepared for the possibility that, even if accepted for SNA, you may never fly for the Navy?

Between flight school attrition (it happens), being NPQ, the Navy "rightsizing," filling IA billets (or whatever they are called this week), etc., there is a very real possibility that you will fly very little, if at all. You've got to ask yourself if you'd be happy as a NFO, as a SWO, as a ground-pounder, etc. Even if you wind up as an Aviator, you will not fly as much as you think. I'm not blowing smoke - while flying for the military is great, if you have dreams of flying eight hours a day, every day, you'd best look elsewhere. You will not be furloughed as an Aviator - as an officer in the Navy, you will be utilized as the Navy sees fit.

Regardless of where you wind up, the Sailors under your charge, your peers, and the boss(es) for whom you work will demand, and deserve, 100% of your effort and abilities...whether you serven in an aviation-related billet or not.

Can you explain how you managed to go from a Junior in High School to "just a kid in college in less than a year?" Granted your Private school and AP classes might have gotten you a leap ahead, but your tender age and 7 posts on AW (regardless of how long you lurked or what your average starting salary might be if you graduate) doesn't make you a Moderator or a Mediator. I recommend to you that when two of the Senior Mods who have BTDT are addressing another poster about something you have not even scratched the surface of in your education, you need to stay out of it.

Have you ever been to an ANG unit? A metric shit ton of those guys are airline jocks. I seriously doubt they would put up with any of the whining we have seen today.

Good luck to both of you in the future.
