Recent reports about the single-shot Palm Pistol. Geared to the elderly or disabled. One news report says that the manufacturer was trying to get the FDA to approval to make it a medical device, but those attempts have failed.

Estimated Price: $300

Likley it will become just "another firearm" if in fact it ever takes off.

No Doc is going to take the liability for writing a script for it as thier liability for use/misuse would be incredibly high. Jokingly I asked the wife to write me a script for it and she laughed. Then again if one was to go to Bekeley and ask for a medical marijuana AND pocket piece script you might just find a Doc there to write one. Who knows.

A "Barrel KaBoom" would be a bad thing with that baby! Nah- What are the odds a 90+ yr old with mild undiagnosed dementia would put a +P+ in it anyway?

Point and shoot sounds very convent for self-defense. I am not trying to be biased against the elderly, but what if seniors can't tell what they are shooting or even who? Alzheimer's/Dementia loss of sight and hearing could all culminate to make the convenience of the palm pistol somewhat questionable.

I think they may have been targeting folks who want to end their own life; hence, the medical device attempt. It would be an easier point and click tool than the current inventory of handguns.

Very true not the safest thing on earth. I've got one that has rounds that shoot out like a deterrent. Funny story incoming.

I'm in my room shuffling around and I see this thing (pen gun). I'm like wtf is this thing.(I've never seen one before and it didn't look like a firearm till after the fact). So I screw in the non-lethal deterrent round. I don't know what to call it. Then I pull it back and I'm like hmmm BOOM! :eek: My ears are ringing and it releases a gas that makes me tear up(maybe tear gas). Terrible. My lesson was learned. Anyways they are neat little objects and very concealable. Extremely simple design.
