Paul Newman has passed. RIP

what a cool guy. Drives race cars, acts in one of the coolest movies ever, and has a delicious line of spaghetti sauces and dressings.

Yeah, I thought this guy was ok until I learned he was a supporter of a convicted cop killer along with many of Hollywood's most left leaning crowd.

I have yet to hear of any credible evidence which supports this killer's story. Maybe the Hollywood crowd is keeping it a secret.

I'll still watch him in Cool Hand Luke but now I like the scene where he is getting his face smashed in by his fellow inmate and also when he is getting his dirt out of the bosses hole.

Fantastic actor, great humanitarian, great human being. He will be missed.

Paul Newman was, among other things, a Navy radioman/gunner in Avengers & served at Okonawa during WWII. He had signed-up for the Navy V-12 Program to become a naval aviator, but failed his flight physical because of colorblindness. He gave millions of $$ to children's charities through his several food companies. He was more liberal politically than I might prefer, but he was a true patriot & a man of his word. We are less because of his passing, IMHO.

I did not agree with his politics at all, however he was different from many of his peers in that he put his money and time where his mouth was.

In many cases famous people slide in, make a few speeches ( making sure that they are photographed and or filmed doing so ) and hit the road. He did a lot of good with his charity work, actually working for something he felt strongly about rather than just trying to look good.

I'm not a movie person at all, but if you can find it he made a movie about a family logging business where he stands up to a union. He and his father, played by Henry Fonda, ( even harder to beleive ) won't go along and are shuned by the rest of the town. It's the most anti-union movie you could imagine. I can only guess that they must not have looked at the script very well or he and Henry Fonda lost a bet.

Agreed.

Now who could know THOSE baby-blues were "colorblind" ... ??? :)

He an' I were world's apart on current social issues, but the guy walked the walk over the course of his life.

Differences aside ... I suspect he would have been a 1st class next door neighbor ... :)
