What happens to an OCS drop out?

So I can't find any answers for this question but I have been told many things. My dad was freaking out about what happens to me if I decide to drop out of OCS if something goes wrong. First of all, I tell him that if I'm going to go to OCS I am going to complete it (unless there is an injury). He is worried that I will become enlisted if I drop out of OCS. Is this true or do you just get removed from the Navy altogether?

The rule of thumb is if the Navy pays you before you get to OCS, you will have to serve enlisted time (active duty prior enlisted, BDCP, NUPOC). If not, you get an administrative separation and go home. Be advised that out-processing takes longer than going through the program itself and graduating.

Is this official? Any link to an official Navy site where I can see this in writing?

Read your contract when you sign it. That's about as official as it gets. My contract had a clause written in it that if I attrited for anything other than NPQ, I would go to great lakes for boot camp to serve as an undesignated seaman for two years (NUPOC). I think all BDCP contracts have something like this. People who just walked in off the street and didn't get paid till day 1 of OCS had no such clause, or so they said.

Now spell that phonetically!

(reminds me of when a guy in our class was told to spell amphibious warfare phonetically. I almost broke bearing when the Chief had him do it. He got hit for forgetting the B).

Actually, my recruiter told ME that it was syphillis, and that if you wanted they could give you a shot of penicillin and offer you a chance at another group of whores.

...or you could go home and eventually go insane and walk with a limp. Unless you're BDCP of course.

alright you clowns, but what's the real deal? If I don't finish OCS (for whatever reason) will I really get chlamydia? Also, if you fail during flight training (that's after receiving a commission from OCS) do you get the boot from the Navy, get the chance/are forced to transfer communities, enlist as an enlisted sailor.

Can someone explain the logic of sending a commissioned officer to Great Lakes to become enlisted? Isn't that like running for vice president after you've already served a term as president?

Yes. :icon_rage

Depending on manning and what Big Navy wants, you will either be given an administrative separation or given the opportunity to re-designate (usually to SWO). Right now all attrites are being separated and sent home.

That doesn't happen. You will only go to great lakes if you are in BDCP/NUPOC and DOR from OCS.

There's a flaw in your logic. You're not a commissioned Officer until you graduate OCS--you're an E-5 Officer Candidate. In fact, when you get ready to graduate, you sign a document that discharges you from enlisted service.

There's a flaw with your eyes. I specifically said failing during flight school after receiving a commission!

The flaw is your statement. They wouldn't send a commissioned officer to enlisted boot camp so the point is moot. The only ones they send there are people who attrite from OCS who have been on the govt's dime for some part of college.
