That isn't too bad...

I was 30 going through flight school... I had a newborn at home, so when they kept making suggestions about not going out and partying every weekend I just laughed.

And there are always guys on my crew who were born after I graduated HS. I usually just scream at them to get off my lawn if they upset me, like if they don't want to go out to grab dinner at 4:30 when we are on an RON (how ya gonna get the "Early Bird special" if ya wait).:icon_tong

One of the JOs in my squadron, after reviewing my logbook, came up to me and said that she was in kindergarten when I logged my first P-3 flight. :D

My first onwing in primary discovered that his TACCO had babysat me...

I was doing MCMAP (green belt) with the grunts on my last deployment. It was killing me and I threw up a couple of times (-1 for style points) during the pt/hazing sessions.

One of the young Corporals came up to me and the following ensued:

Cpl: How old are you, sir?

Me: 38

Cpl: Geez, my Mom is only 36.

Me: Shut up. (I wish I'd thought of Hercs "Get off my lawn" line).

BTW, the Cpl was an outstanding Marine. If he was half as impressed with me for keeping up with the Marines half my age as I was with the performance of those young Marines, I'd be honored.

My best "You're really old now realization occurred when I found out I was older than the Maintenance Master Chief in my last fleet squadron. That sucked, but it was always a great day when he would say something like, "Sir, we just can't do that!" And I'd get to to reply, "Son, in my experience..." Man, he loved that!

I used to take a kid water skiing who is now an ex SSN skipper and Navy O-6. It's just amazing they let those kids drive those expensive boats.

Was on the crew bus about 3 years ago... And this older guy starts talking about how he got shot down in Vietnam.. I said "Wow, good thing they didn't capture you" or something like. He then corrects me and says that he was a POW and so in return the Air Force sent him to Pilot Training.. He was the NAV on the flight..

Story kind of backwards from the posts intent.....
