Talk is cheap, I'd like to know how they plan to pull of the tanker support.
They've got five, and one of the proposed attack routes (with us turning a blind eye) would be through Iraq, where the tankers could operate with impunity.
"turning a blind eye" would really only implicate us directly, as opposed to an alternate routing through non-U.S.-controlled airspace. A Syria-Turkey-Iran route is plausible, and allows the U.S. to maintain its distance from the attack, although I'm not sure exactly what the Turks would do militarily. What sort of relationship do the Turks and Israelis share?
WRT subs, boomers could sink Tehran from their home ports, if need be. I don't think taking an Ohio class SSGN into the Persian Gulf is SOP either, since they are so large/unwieldy. In any case, TLAM's have a range 2000 km + range and an SSGN could hit Iran from the Med (or Caspian Sea)
From the OP's article: "And the U.S., aware of Israel's high anxiety over Iran's nukes, is also hooking Israel up to an advanced missile detection system known as X-Band to guard against any future attack by Iran, said a senior U.S. defense official"
So is this 'advanced missile detection system' really called "X-Band," or is it just a X-band radar? My money is on the latter... silly MSM.
Man if what you said were to happen...along with Russia controlling the pipeline in Georgia. $6.00/gal unleaded anyone?![]()
