I'm headed down to the p-cola for the airshow tomorrow, and I was just looking for any inside information or tips, such as best vantage point from the beach, parking, restaurants, etc...

I would also like to go tour as much of NASP as I can. Any info on this would also be appreciated like what to go see (where I'm allowed to go as a civilian), areas I should steer clear of. I've been to the museum, but that's all I've seen there.

If any of you are going to be around, let me know! I'll buy you a beer.

Thanks in advance.

My roommate last year rented a pontoon boat and took it out to watch the Blue Angles. Just an Idea. If you wanted to see something cool I would also take said boat over to Fort Pickens.

And the museum is just about the best you are gonna do on NASP. You can go see Fort Barancas too, but I thing everything else is technically off limits if you don't have an ID. There really ain't that much more to see anyways.

Land your happy ass on the beach NLT 8 in the morning. After that, have fun trying to get a parking spot anywhere remotely close to the beach. I'd recommend taking fort pickens road about a 1/4 mile down, park on the shoulder of the road and take a cooler of beer and SPF 1 million for the day. You'll either wait on the beach drinking beer for the show or in traffic getting on the beach. Your choice

Intermissions downtown is my bar of choice, late night freakness go to Azalea's (Enter at own risk)..

Where do you get the boat...and how much?

8 am, Roger that. Thanks for the tips and, yeah, I figured I wouldn't get to see much of the base . Oh well, couldn't hurt to ask.

As far as the pontoon boat goes, I rented one a couple of years ago from Key Sailing down there for about $150~/day, but you couldn't take it out of the bay/ICW. Know of anywhere else that would let you rent one to go on the beach side? ...surely they are all booked up by now, though...

Bunk -- got room for 2 more ;) One of us has huge boobies, too (not me).

I just got back from the rehearsal of the air show.
The X spot is the fishing pier on the beach with giant yellow tarps marking it. The the ideal place on the beach is near or east of that pier so you can hear the announcer and see the most.
This afternoon I stood on the pier to watch and it was a good vantage point.

On another note we (the people I was around) think that #5 of the blue angels had technical problems as he disappeared for a long time but he did return to do a few more events towards the end. So hopefully that doesn't affect tomorrows show.

Should be a really good time regardless. Got the opportunity to tag along in the USMC C-130 (Fat Albert) during this afternoon's practice and had a blast. Really great crew.

Yeah the storm was pretty bad on the beach...we tried to wait it out but they finally canceled.

The radio said they are going to try again tomorrow at the same time but its still a 50% of rain.
