Interesting stuff. Apparently there is a retired O-1 21 year old a retired O-8 44 year old, and quite a few retired E-9s over 100 years old still drawing retired pay.

For those that are interested in the lump sum value of a military retirement (e.g. how much you would have to save to equal it, not including annual COLA) it's in there.
 
an interesting sidebar:

if you look at the final few pages of the document linked above, the average life expectancy of officers is about 3-4 years longer than that of enlisted. wonder why the disparity?

That's because an enlistedman's life is extended by all the things he does to make an officer's shorter.
